Alexei Emelin to NYR

I have an unhealthy mancrush on Emelin and I think he'd be perfect to pair with Stralman as our 6D.

What would it take?

The problem is he is our only d who can throw a check besides subban and i would rather pk is scoring then hitting.

Take a small overpayment to get him, we need top 6 wingers or just upgrades on d in general.

Not sure?

Mcdonagh or GTFO !!!

Seriously

Not much we can do here!

Bryan Boyles, 2013 3rd

for

Alex Emelin, Petteri Nokelinen(spelling?)

Steep price, but factor in that both team are in the same conference and that Emelin is the only physical D on the Habs NHL roster...

As a fan of neither team I have to say that I think it would be a major mistake to trade Emelin at this time.

The price would have to be higher than is realistic if I was the Habs GM. I would want an upgrade on Emelin if I was going to move him.

Plekanec + Emelin +

for

Staal

The only way he's traded at this point in time is for an upgrade.

Emelin is not going anywhere !! He the kind of player that will get better and better ... Don't forget that last season it was is first in the NHL with a new environment !! Now he will feel better specially with is budy Markov in the line up !! My gess is that emelin will play on the right side with Markov to start the season and gorges will go back with subban !! Markov best season was with komisarek and I could see emelin doing the same kind of work witch is giving so space to Markov

Took the habs forever to get this guy over. I think for this shortened season they'll be keeping him.

However, if he were to be dealt, it would be in part of an upgrade.

Or potentially in a deal for McIlrath ?

What do you have in terms of top-6 forwards? That's our biggest need for sure.

Or you could just give us McDonagh back!

Being realistic for a sec, I doubt Emelin is available for what can be considered a realistic price from the rangers. Beyond the need that Emelin fills (physical D), Montreal would be looking for top-6 help, preferably on the younger side. Who could NYR possibly be willing to move? Sauer is damaged goods, Kreider wasn't moved for Nash, he wouldn't even be considered for Emelin. The Rangers don't have a first in the upcoming draft and Montreal wont trade Emelin to add a 4th 2nd rounder to their collection.

Sorry, I just don't see a deal here.

That is a hilariously bad deal for Montreal, as bad as people mentioning Mcdonagh (although that's jokingly)

There is no way mtl trade is first round this year ... We're not making the playoff so it will be most likely a top 10 pick so even do I love stepan no thank u and you put cole who score 35 g last season ... This doesn't make any sense !!

If we trade cole we will get a 1round + Good prospect at least !! At the deadline cole will most likely be the only 35 goal scorer available so he will be gold for a contender team !!

Nothing you would be willing to offer. Until Jarred Tinordi is ready and capable to play a substantial role on the Habs' defense, they don't have a player like Emelin and they need him.

As said by other the Habs' biggest need is an offensive forward. They will no doubt move a d-man or two to get one as that is one area they have a glut of. They have 8 in camp fighting for a regular shift and a few others that will be ready in a year or two.

We'll take a 7th round pick. Thanks.

I still believe Emelin is not a NHL caliber dman.

Nope. McIlrath is a total disappointment. What a terrible pick by the Rangers.
