Not really the same situation at all.

.7 vs 2.2

Depth vs roster

If he brings some offence to the Moose it's not a harmful deal. I'm confident if the Canucks get in a position where they have 3 or more defenceman injured, they'll bring someone in from outside the organization.
I really hope Winnipeg gets an NHL team again someday soon...

Oh wait, thats right! It isn't 2011 anymore!

Bingo.

I had a buddy back in the day and hed buy these total piece of **** cars, you know like 1982 jetta in crap condition. He'd buy it for nothing and we'd all laugh at him.

But sure as **** he spend a bit money and bit elbow grease and turn the ****ing things into something he could flip for a profit.

Love this signing. It doesn't hurt the Canucks at all, 700k is nothing, put him in the minors, it doesn't even count towards the cap. If a few Dmen go down, he can play sheltered minutes. I'm sure Barker knows he's on thin ice with his work ethic. And playing for a winning team with a legit shot at the cup, he might put some extra effort into it and regain his form.

No risk, high potential reward

I don't get the hate either. If anything, this should just be a "meh" signing. Maybe playing for a decent team might help him out.

If we give your buddy Barker and 100K can you turn him into something for profit?

This signing is applauded by everyone who hates the Canucks.

Of course knowing Karma....watch Barker troll us all, and turn in an all-star performance this season, and have all of us trying to jump off a bridge because of it.

Oh it has? Well that's good.

Yeah we're all good here. No worries.

Barker is a depth signing for Vancouver that is a high risk, high reward (if it can be that at this point) signing. As many have said, its not like the Canucks have a glaring hole on defense. He is a warm body that can spot in here and there as he will probably see time in the minors.

Pray tell what exactly is the high risk?

Well, here's hoping.
(not the jumping off the bridge part, though)

Might as well fold the franchise. Don't give Cam the satisfaction.

That's the best idea I've seen in the virtual pseudo Canuck GM postings on this site so far... Definitely no sarcasm again...

Nah. But if theres a team where he can use his last lifeline its vancouver.

And if he plays well enough maybe he gets flipped for a 4th maybe even a 3rd to a desparate team.

Vancouver have nothing to lose. Low cap hit, Nothing more than a depth player, Will play sheltered minutes. If he still sucks Vancouver won't be chocked about because thay can just send him down and release him next season. If he gets better and becomes productive then Vancouver got a nice surprise for 700K

the contrast from reaction on here and cdc is funny.

I think the anger and happiness should be in between the two.
