Yes, and $1.1 mil cap hit to the Sabres.

But I think that is ok. With no re-entry waivers this year he could be considered depth for the Sabres (unlike Morrisonn) in case of injuries.

Is Pardy claimed or no? I assume no because of the cap but hey

I agree, unless they want to keep him for his size to keep up with all the other muscle (Parros, Scott, Westgarth) that has moved to the Eastern Conference.

We'll find out tomorrow, he was just put on waivers today so there's 24 hours before he clears.

Kind of similar to how the Isles drafted D-men with all 7 of their draft picks last spring.

If a player clears waivers with one team and is traded to another. Does that acquiring team need to send them through waivers again? Or is it just the one time?

I ask because if thats the case it would be a good time to go after some players to boost the Amerks and add organizational depth.

Just the one time I'm sure. But Darcy will not do that. What you see is what you get.

I don't believe they have to clear waivers again--there's a day/games requirement (I think it was like 10 games or 30 days before they have to clear waivers again under the last CBA).

But, those players that cleared are likely going to their own farm teams, so it might not be very fruitful. Unless you are thinking about us trading for Connolly...

I was wondering if it was changed. It seems like the players were very interested in freeing up the waiver requirements so players don't get stuck in AHL. Like the elimination of recall waivers.

So if no others (other than Tarnasky and Porter) that means Gerbe and McCormick on IR!?
I support putting at least one of them on IR to minimize having to lose players as they give Grigorenko a tryout.

Re: Pardy, I actually think he'd be a better player for us than Weber, but maybe Webs will turn things around and play a bit looser (in a good way) with his brother from another mother around. Pardy will be great for Rochester if he clears and we don't really need the cap space losing him would provide, so here's hoping.

Does this mean Brennen makes the team?

Looks like it, unless they're fielding trade offers. More than anything it buys time for them to decide until Gerbe and McCormick return if indeed they were placed on IR. They can send Grigorenko down, try to assign another player to Rochester (McCormick, Ellis, Brennan, Weber, etc), or try to trade a guy such as Brennan or Weber.

When can players be assigned to IR? If they can only be assigned after the 23 man limit takes place, then they'll have to do a couple paper transactions (send Foligno/Hodgson down, put Gerbe/McCormick on IR, then immediately recall Foligno/Hodgson).

I believe they will do it tomorrow before 3 PM.

He signed a one year deal with Moscow of the KHL. No NHL out clause.
Smart move with the lockout.

So who is currently in/out/on the bubble for the 23 man roster?

Forwards definitely in: Vanek, Pominville, Hodgson, Ennis, Stafford, Foligno, Ott, Leino, Hecht, Kaleta (10)
Dmen definitely in: Myers, Erhoff, Regehr, Leopold, Sekera, Sulzer (6)
Goalies in: Miller, Enroth (2)
IR/In when they get back: Gerbe, McCormick (2)
20 players locked for the roster.

That leaves the following with 5 current spots, but only 3 once Gerbe and McCormick get back. Also of note, there would be 1-2 current spots in the starting lineup, with maybe one (McCormick's) once the injured come back.

Grigorenko (will play if with the team), Ellis, Brennan, Weber. So I'd guess they all stay up until the walking wounded return? I'd also assume Grigorenko and Ellis play. Unless they use Brennan as a 7th dman/pp specialist.
