Penguins Olympic Week Practice

Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
Tomas Vokoun is skating with the team, but the other injured #Pens are not (Letang, Bennett, Conner, Pyatt, Vitale).

Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
All the healthy #Pens are skating: Adams, Glass, Kobasew, Neal, Sutter, Bortuzzo, Engelland, Niskanen, Scuderi, Fleury, Zatkoff.

Not sure how much practice they can do while missing half the team and two coaches.

Yay, for Vokoun. Is BB even alive?

Anyway, Vitale should be practicing now according to the injury thread.

Shelly Anderson @pgshelly

Beau Bennett and Kris Letang are watching #Penguins practice. No word on whether they have skated or will skate today.

He's alive.

I don't see the injured players not being at practice as a big deal. A few more days rest doesn't hurt. If they aren't practicing when everyone is back from Sochi, then I'll be concerned.

Maybe a preteen fan took him out for taking a picture with her?

Yeah, I'm not overly concerned right now, mainly because none of the injured players practiced. If it was just BB and Letang not practicing I would be worried.

I wish he was, though.

Even in sarcasm, insinuating Bennett may have been frolicking with a 12 or under girl is a little creepy.

Vokoun says he intends on playing for the Penguins this season.

Josh Yohe ‏@JoshYohe_Trib
Vokoun has been completely medically cleared to play. Just needs to get in shape.

This concept of good news is foreign to me..

Edit: More

Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
Vokoun: "It'd be nice to not finish my career in the stands. To finish as a player. I'm medically cleared to do anything I need to do" #Pens

Shelly Anderson ‏@pgshelly
Vokoun wants to play again rather than ending career as spectator, but doesn't want to be "burden" to #Penguins if he's not 100 percent.

So are we going to be forced to trade a goaltender for a defenseman?

It's going to be interesting to see how this three goalie situation works out.

If we get there, obviously.

I wonder how Vokoun returning affects Shero's plans at the deadline in regards to managing the cap.

Awesome news on TV, seems like he isn't to far away from coming back.

Backup goalies like Zatkoff are easy to get, if the pens end up losing Zatkoff on waivers i wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

It will be interesting. I doubt they will expose Zatkoff to waivers. So we will be carrying 3 goalies.

I don't think it's THAT easy to land a guy like Zatkoff, have him perform for you without any sort of regular playing time, and then have him re-sign for multiple years with a very cap-friendly deal.

He's the perfect backup, really.

No doubt, we could sign someone in the off season for a year

What's Andy Chiodo up to anyways ?

What would suck if we would lose him like you said is the next 2 years it's peanuts what he is going to be making for our cap hit. Problem is it's only a 1 way deal so he has to be here

Niskanen is probably off the trade block because of Letang's status, but if he could be moved for some top 9 help, I wouldn't mind seeing these defense pairs:

Orpik-Martin
Despres-Scuderi
Maatta-Bortuzzo

The same 9 skaters that practiced yesterday practiced today. They played a scrimmage game. One team had Bort, Scuds, Sutter, Kobasew and Glass. The other team had Adams, Niskanen, Neal and Engelland.

Neal's team won.
