You know those stereotype old time canadian captains.
that whole "vocal leader" thing is a canard. being vocal has much less to do with being a C than people think, tho i don't think campbell's quiet anyway. and not only euros can lead quietly - how about stevie y?

i think campbell would make a fine C as he's really the biggest difference maker (pre-Huby) but i'm rooting for weiss.

From what I read and hear the players comments they all seem to really look up to Jovanovski. I feel that could be a major role playing there.

What matters most in a captain is that the players look up to him and respect him, and he can get the team to respond to him. If there is an alpha male leader in that room, it's Jovo. Posters' petty gripes with him be damned.

I think it's safe to say that we'll likely know who the captain will be by tomorrow night...

Fialkov tweeted he spoke to one of the players and they expect Weiss to be named captain. Take that for what its worth.

Give Weiss the C. Increases his chances to re-sign.

I was thinking the same thing, although he deserves it anyway. And give Jovo nothing, increase his chance of retirement Kidding.

I agree. This will probably be the way it is and when Jovo retires, I'd like to see Versteeg get it, he's a character guy and actually wants to be a Panther. Huberdeau will likely take the other A from Campbell when he's on his way out.

AG, you need to set up a twitter account so you can "break news" for us.

It's Jovo officially, per Panthers (@FlaPanthers) twitter. Weiss and Campbell assistants.

So dumb.

It's like they want Weiss to leave.

You guys are over-reacting. Jovo was a good pick. He is the leader of the room. Thus he becomes the captain.

To be fair, it didn't convince Parise to stay in New Jersey.

Guys, Dineen has way more insight than anyone here about who the leader in the locker room is and who the players look up to. Being upset over this decision is silly.

Overreaction!

Jovo: C
Weiss: A
Soup: A

could easily be..

Weiss: C
Jovo: A
Soup: A

or even..

Soup: C
Weiss: A
Jovo: A

Whatever, nothing is going to change! Weiss already stated that he wants to stay here long-term. I've heard Weiss say a few different times how he looks up to players who spend their whole career with one team.
