Personally find any chant that serves to potentially rile up an opponent as stupid. I means its nice that the fans get into it but I'd rather it be more positive to the Jets than negative to the opponents. Still don't understand the na na na na goodbye chant to the Capitals in an early season game. The Caps went on to make the playoffs and we didn't. I've heard more than one hockey commentator mention the booing of opposing players as a negative on Winnipeg fans. I'd rather be great home team boosters rather than boo birds like Philly.

I hope I won't get infracted; just want to wish the Jets a good season. Hope both our teams make the playoffs this year! (Though I do also hope the Sens win game 1-- maybe let's make it a 3-pointer?)

Welcome fellow Manitoban!

Good Luck to the Sens this year as well.

Stop by anytime, and maybe the Jets can be your #2 team....

I think if I keep listening to TSN1290 in the car the Jets will be my #2 team by default! Looking forward to catching an NHL game up at the MTS Centre sometime, maybe even this season.

"Oh my God they're booing me. I feel so bad about myself. I'm only going to be able to give it 50% today."

Is that the point of the booing then?

Or how bout people who keep saying Winnipeg sio a great place to play cause of the fans and how it pumps up the players

If fans enthusiasm can have an effect on the palyers, why can't their negativity help motivate players just as much? Or are you saying there is no affect on a teams performance reagardless of what the fans do?

The Sens were my favourite Eastern team when there was no team in Winnipeg. I used to get out to Ottawa on business quite a bit and got to see a number of games at the Corel Centre/Scotiabank Place.

Of course now that the Jets are back, I couldn't care less about the Sens! Actually I'm sure they'll be my favourite Eastern team again next season when the Jets move to the Western conference.

We have a fine line to walk between disheartening a player by booing and enraging them to the point that they feel they have to prove us wrong...obviously we crossed the line with Staal last year. But we seemed to hit the sweet spot with Miller (the fact that our D core could be Team USA notwithstanding).

Has anyone else been reading here and there that Idle No More is thinking about blockading this game?

They're welcome to try.
I have no doubt our city's finest could resolve the issue quickly.
I think it would be a misstep for them. But what do I know/care.

Good for them, I guess? I'd like to see 300 strong protesters try to block 15k fans from seeing the first game of the season.

That sounds like a screaming non-issue, it's probably a symbolic thing, and if they took it seriously it would be over quickly.

Though if they delay it enough, I might have enough time to make it to a place with wifi and watch the game without blowing my phone bill through the roof.

I'm not sure if Idle No More is trying to provoke a reaction, or if they think that drawing attention to their cause like this helps somehow? Seems to me more would get done if they were able to garner sympathy with the masses, rather than antagonize. "Catch more flies with honey..." and all that.

They bombarded me at St. Vital on Boxing Day. I saw the recent polls...apparently over 60% of Canadians don't care anymore.

I don't know that I should have brought it up to be honest, I don't want to have anything start on these boards. I will say that there's no way they'll stop me from getting to my seat and that's that! Now, let's get back to the actual game discussion.

But dude if they play at half the effort we'll have a 50% effort advantage over them as opposed 110% vs. 100%.
