At the end of two, it's 4-0 Amerks. Taylor, Thorburn, Jillson, and Pominville with the goals. Miller with 16 saves...

My bro is at the game. I just called him but he's too wasted to give a coherent report. Sorry.

I've been pleased with thorburn's consistent play and ability to score once in a while.

The first two periods they looked great, the 3rd was pathetic. I hate when teams sit on their leads. It almost always never works. Can't do that against good teams or they won't last long in the playoffs.

He is forgiven.

It's over at the BCA: Amerks get another win, this time a 5-2 final. That's another five game winning streak for the boys. Syracuse turned up the heat a bit in the third with 13 shots, but the Amerks held up to get the win. Hooray for Novotny. The dude got himself a goal. Too bad it takes an empty net for him to pound one home. They get to lay low and rest those legs until next Friday when Edmonton comes to town.

Thorburn-Gaustad-Paille...these three sound like they're making a guy like Mair expendable when play resumes. Maybe even Grier? You can argue that at least Thorburn and Paille might need another year of seasoning, but it's good to know that the troika is putting in an A1 effort game in and game out.

Syracuse turning up the heat was a result of the Amerks players already halfway to the bars. Luckily they had enough of a lead and could hang on. But they had their chances and it could have been a 1 goals game or even tied if Syracuse buried the chances they got.

That's what it sounded like, but heat it was regardless. I hope they learn from tonight's dropoff in the third.

Anyone know when Flacker's site is going to be up and running again? It keeps saying that he's moving to a new server or something...

Game article from the Amerks website

Quote:
The team eclipsed the franchise record of 15-straight home wins set by the 1964-65 Amerks. On February 19th, Rochester tied the team mark by defeating the St. John’s Maple Leafs 3-2. The Philadelphia Phantoms currently hold the AHL record, capturing 19-straight home wins between October 30, 1996 and January 31, 1997
Screw the Flyers, let's get that record. If they get past Edmonton, it'll take two straight over Bingo to tie the mark. Good to see they'll have some added motivation on top of memories of the brawl from the last meeting between the two clubs.

Actually this was one of the best games I've seen him play. He worked extremely hard in both zones and finished all his checks. He can certainly carry the puck up the ice with confidence. I can somewhat understand why the Sabres took him in the first round (he has the tools to be a good player), he just doesn't put everything together nor have greating finishing ability.

In other words, the prototypical AHLer. It's good to hear that he's playing better, but I keep waiting for him to exude those leadership skills that we heard about on draft day. I just think it's a bit too late at this point.

even more impressive and unbelivable, that empty netter was unassisted! nice job by novotny on that great individual effort.

also, that taylor goal was a beauty. he litterally passed it at goering's skate, and it went in. goering however made a couple of very pretty saves, such as that 1 timer i thought was in for sure.
