Basically they want to sign both, they have the cap to sign both, but they're still burned over the Schultz fiasco and likely won't be willing to lose an asset for nothing (in his opinion).

Thanks. I'm really happy they are keeping quiet about this in case we need to trade Perry.

Trading Perry for a 3rd is essentially something you're flipping. You don't get to keep the 3rd, you flip it for a player at the draft. A player who most likely will never see the NHL. And Kessel will be worth a 1st + unless there's a catastrophic injury. He's a damn good scoring winger.
You have a point about the Ducks vs the cap. So my original statement doesn't really apply.

But the flipping asset thing still applies. There is a difference between the pick and Kessel. The pick is like cash. It is liquid and has value to every team. 6 million dollar wingers, OTH, do not. Also I would be perfectly happy to keep the pick (especially with how the team is supposedly drafting lately), whereas I would not be happy keeping Kessel.

you must really hate the guy.. regardless of whether he's soft or not, he's a sniper that provides offensive and can lessen the blow of perry leaving.. is that 3rd round pick going to score goals?
I do really hate him. His style is to hog the puck and score in transition. He also had never scored 40 goals. It would not fit in with any of our forward or forward prospects. However I will admit that it could fit in with the mobile defense the team is building.

This is a player who is less than the stats, unlike Perry who is more than the stats. And the third round pick is not the alternative. It was more me being facetious just to show how little I think of Kessel. The comparison is whatever you think Perry could return instead of Kessel.

For comparison, I think I would prefer Grabovski to Kessel. Slightly lesser player, but would fit the team needs better.

Why would it stop? Be thankful that our youth is prospering. And scoring and being added to the roster and scoring hat tricks. Like wtf are you complaining about? We haven't seen this type of depth in years.

I would say its 50/50 but who really knows. Only those involved in the Ducks organization, Perry, and his agent know really. The Ducks have been real quiet as far as negotiations go.

Thanks. I'd be shocked if they both don't stay. Plus you guys are starting to turn it around. We just dumped some salary and heard Perry was a Hab fan growing up. Needless to say we're more than a little interested, hahaha.

On a side note, how's Koivu been all and all? I heard he has 6 goals which is pretty solid. Definitely hope there's a way we could get him back though it's unlikely.

I think it'll come down to the owners and if they want to invest on the team. We have the cap space and I think Perry enjoys it here. Despite what the rest of the forums think, we have a pretty solid core with good prospects on the way and we're not far from being a contender. If the team continues to play like they have so far, it'll likely persuade both Perry's camp and the Ducks management to push to close the deal.

Koivu has been outstanding. I'll admit I haven't been able to watch a whole lot of games this year but from what I have seen Koivu stands out along with his entire line. He's the perfect third line center for the Ducks right now. Adds good scoring depth, great defensively, veteran leadership, works hard every shift, and can provide second line spot duty if needed.

I will say that if he ever left the Ducks to return to Montreal I wounldn't hold it against him, although like you said it's unlikely.

First 15 games Koivu was our best player. Now I would say it has been Getzlaf.

If he thinks he's going to have some sort of office job with the Ducks in marketing he better reminisce. Clearly he's better off served being the team cheerleader.

I ignore you just as much as you ignore me. It's better off that way in my eyes. Especially when I only see you post to scrutinize my posts. You're only around when you want to make users feel bad regarding a topic OF discussion. Have you ever contributed anything to this forum? I haven't seen it.
