Ladd to Chicago

Would a futures package be acceptable? I know this gets asked every now and then and i know that Ladd is the Jets captain. What about...

Ladd

2014 1st + Stalberg + Saad + Tuevo + Frolik?

Dont rip my head off, just trying to see if there's a way to get Ladd back on the Hawks without giving up any core pieces. Also, i'm not sure of needs

Ladd would never do well playing with the Hawks. Bad idea.

This is way overpayment imho I mean to me it's not even close to fair and the Hawks get fleeced badly here.

I agree with the guy above me. Heavy overpayment for Ladd. Chi after this deal is wondering why Win didn't even have the common courtesy of lubing up.

I don't see how this trade works for either team. It moves Winnipeg backwards, while they are trying to take that step of becoming a playoff team. And the Hawks give up way too many youngsters. Not to mention, Bowman doesn't need to be trading draft picks that stand a decent chance of coming after he is fired.

Wow haha expecting the exact opposite reaction.

What would be more fair?

2014 1st + Stalberg + Frolik + Saad?

(Regarding OP)

Value-wise the Hawks get screwed.

Won't speak for Winnipeg fans, they may likely have valid reasons for shying away as well. Although I imagine a package like that is difficult to say no to.

You're a Chicago fan? That would be a huge overpayment for Ladd, Winnipeg would probably think they're being pranked if they were offered that for Ladd.

No thanks. The last thing Winnipeg management would do is trade the team captain. I'm sure many of you find the return to Winnipeg more than fair and perhaps it is, but that is irrelevant as it is more than offset by the negative message sent by trading the captain. Not going to happen, period.

They are trying to instill a specific team and organizational culture here; that is not done by trading your captain. They may be willing to ditch an old pending UFA vet like Hainsey at the deadline in exchange for picks, but that is about it for now. The Jets are building via the draft - not rebuilding by trading key pieces.

Lol @ Winnipeg fans saying the Jets would say no to this.

I know we all love Ladd but HELL NO to that deal. Seriously. I love Ladd as much as the next Hawks fan but we are not getting him back, especially for a package like that. If Stalberg continues to improve I could see him becoming as good as Ladd and its a good bet that one of TT or Saad become top sixers for the Hawks. PLUS a first? Dear God.

LOL all you want; that won't change that the Jets wouldn't trade their captain... unless Toews was coming back home in return.

I know he's your captain but he's just not that... how can I put it... good. I know he provides more what his stats let on but still. If you would turn down two of the top thirty prospects in the NHL, a big, fast winger who is good for 20+g 20+a, and a first rounder for a 55 pt player you're doing your team a disservice.

I'm sure you believe quite firmly in what you are saying but none of that changes that the Jets wouldn't trade their captain.

Yeah, and his stats these last two seasons is #1 and #2 on the team in goals and #1 and #4 on the team in points.

A player that can handle tough minutes as well as he does and still score at that rate, all while being team captain, with all the intangibles that he has. He's valuable, probably more so to the Jets than the Hawks.

Let's be honest, the 1st rounder will probably not be very high, and a 1st in the 20-30 range is just not very valuable. I don't know if you can say that Stalberg is good for 20+ goals and 20+ assists. He reached it last season playing on a very good line, I don't know if I would bet on him reaching it again on another line. Saad and Teuvo has great potential, but that's it.

I don't see why we would trade our captain for potential, absolutely when that potential is on the LW position, when our top 6 on LW actually is a strong point. The package has value, but in the immidiate future we're getting weaker on the LW offensively and defensively, and I for one would like to see the team try to reach the playoffs with this team before trading for prospects and picks.

I'd be hard pressed to trade Teravainen for Ladd straight up, it's not as if he is a fringe prospect like Gaudreau, he has NHL top 6 potential (ranked 16th prospectus )

But seriously, we aren't going to we redo the cup team again...I know it's hard not to try.

You gotta hope Saad can turn into Ladd, Shaw can replace Versteeg in some ways(PK, energy, offense, and Jimmy Hayes cleans up in front of the net.

If Bolland moves up wtf?

Stalberg-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Bolland-Kane
Saad------------Shaw

Kruger?! Eeeep- he is solid defensively but winning board battles against top line players?

I can't believe this came from a Hawks fan. I loved Ladd when he was in Chicago.. but c'mon.. you're going to gut Chicago's system for a guy that would be Chicago's 2nd best LW and arguabley 5th best forward? If you're giving up so many quality pieces I'd want a helluva lot more than just Ladd coming back.

Yeah, no thanks. Ladd would be a great depth guy in Chicago, but not worth anything close to that package.

Whoa...that's a lot to give up. Ladd is a good leader, and can pot 25 a season, but sheesh.

Jets fans are saying no because they don't want to trade their captain. The value is over-the-top.

I figured it would have to be over the top to get to trade their captain. It seems I went too far over though

Way too far over. It's just not worth it from Chicago's POV. Yes, Ladd was a good Blackhawk and helped the team win a Cup.. but he's with a new team now, making alot more money, and he means alot to his current team. It just doesn't make sense for Chicago to give up that much for a very good, but not elite player.
