We don't need the original EGG line, we have brother Gio to take his place.

I guess if we do offer something to Gomez we can try him out as the 2nd line Center until Henrique comes back.

Butler - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - Gomez (Adam) - Clarkson
Teddy - Yayo - Zubrus
Beriner - Gionta - Carter

He will probably get picked off from some other team. I'd take him low but don't see us going for it.

Josefson hasn't even played a full season in the pros and is 21, I'm not so concerned with where his career NHL numbers are at.

I'd take Gomez on a one year deal any day of the week. He's exactly what Kovalchuk needs... a setup man that will put it on a tee. He still has his speed and I couldn't care less if he scores 5 goals a year, as long as he's defensively responsible and can feed his wingers.

Gomez bolted cause he got a absurd amount of cash thrown his way and any of us would've done the same thing. Those who say different are just lying to themselve IMO.

I wouldn't be upset at all if Lou took a flyer on Gomez. It'll be interesting to see what happens with he and redden.

True, but we know Gomez did like it here with the comments Darche gave . Gomez told him if the Devils offer him a tryout, that he should go here

And what has Josefson proven to get that spot exactly? He got his time to shine when he centered Kovalchuk for a few games last year and he was invisible.

I don't really know the story of Gomez. How did he become so bad? Was it because a lack of work ethic or a bad attitude?

His excellent play towards the end of last season(Before the 2nd injury) and his play in the AHL

Probably struggled in two of the largest media markets and gave in to the pressure. I'm sure it's not easy coming out of Alaska into NYC/Montreal

I don't think Gomez is going to do anything unless he has a scorer on his line. The guy had 1 season where he scored more than 20 goals. He has always been a play maker. I sorta want to see what an Elias - Gomez - Kovy line could do.

I can't comment on his AHL play this year, haven't seen enough games.

When Henrique gets back he should play 2nd line C, we don't need a question mark in that spot, and an injury prone one at that. I'd like to see this once Henrique gets healthy (assuming we get no forwards via trade, which is highly unlikely):

Kovalchuk-Zajac-Butler
Elias-Henrique-Zubrus
Tedenby-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Furthermore, what or WHO in god's name has made Pete DeBoer put Kovalchuk on the right wing? I probably won't ever understand how a guy scores FIFTY GOALS on the left side and somehow he's better suited for the right. Maybe this sport has just passed me by, because it doesn't make sense.

Who knows, but it Wouldn't shock me if Gomez reaches out to Lou once he officially becomes a UFA to see what's up

He hasn't been that bad. The rangers gave him a ridiculous contract for an 2nd line center. I think he could still put up 10+ G with 40+ A playing with Elias.

A right-handed shot, like Kovy, can play a different kind of game from right side.

Faster, more give and goes, more team work... A different look during the cycle, and a better look against a team playing any variation of Scotty Bowman's left-wing lock.

But yeah, he does have great seasons on the left side, so I don't completely get it either...

Expectations for this season?

It's not about getting Kovy goals, it's about getting the Devils wins.

Ovechkin may make the same move as Kovy, probably after seeing how much it benefited Kovy's play, even though it was strange at first. Specifically it was mentioned how skating wide and cutting to the middle to shoot from the off wing is basically a no go now, teams got too good at defending it.

Since Holik came back after bolting across the river, anything goes. I'd have no problem bringing Gomez back on the right deal.

I think he is going to be among the team's most reliable D-men this season. I'd like to see Pete spread out the minutes on D this year, all three pairings can play well
