The Red Wings have their worst defense in ages and are strong once again at center.
Filppula is a UFA and can be a second line center, or even first line center with top notch wingers.
Quincey the kind of defenseman who can play in lots of situations, but isn't elite -- though he can rack up PP points.
So, if your team needed a guy like Flip, do you have a right-handed defenseman you can offer?
Ok, it depends on how great of a RHD you are thinking about. The Hurricanes have a RHD in McBain who may or may not be available, but perhaps just for Flip...you could keep Quincey in that instance and probably get a sweetener from Rutherford.
I dont think Filppula + Quincey is going to net a top pairing D-man for you. Top4? Yes...but then thats not necessarily a huge upgrade over Quincey.
If he can reproduce the points he put up last season then he is plenty good to play a 1C for a few teams, a lot of teams he would probably be a 2C, but he could easily be a 1C on Toronto or Phoenix and a few others. No one is claiming he would be a 1C on most teams but believe it or not there are teams with worse top line centers.
