To be fair, they played great last season and got gutted again every week. They played terrible when they had a stable lineup this season. Perhaps getting gutted is what they need.

Simple question.

Mark Fistric vs Mark Methot?

Following the trade forums last year, both of these names came up here. Is Methot much better than Fistric or did Tambellini actually get very good value in this deal?

Because Ottawa trading Foligno for Methot would resemble us trading Gagner for Fistric IMO.

Oh my goodness... the giveaways...

And I wonder... Fedun plays a very dissimilar style to Peckham or Fistric... Could it be Potter that's leaving? Or maybe a little more of a shocker..?

Thinking about it, Fedun arrived at Rexall already...meaning he must of known he was coming for quite some time.. So I wonder if it was just because Peckham was hurt and they need to fill that role for TC not knowing if they were going to be able to pull the trigger on Fistric or not..

I have no idea what an aggravated hip flexor is but it doesn't sound good.

This is the first trade Tambo's made that I actually like. We clearly need a tough D-man to replace Sutton, and the cost is only a 3rd round pick. Given our history with drafting after the top spot, this is a real steal.

it's though the only thing i don't like about this deal. good job!

IIRC, the Canucks and Oilers have never made a trade - am I correct on that?

I don't know about the probability of the two teams making a deal, but boy, you guys with Luongo in net would be frightening.

Well aggravated is a pretty ambiguous word to describe an injury. If it's minor he could be back within a week.

A serious injury might be a couple months.

Either way it would be pretty hard to skate.

Bill Watters mentioned on Twitter earlier that the Oilers are indeed interested but the Canucks aren't interested in dealing with the Oilers. Of course, that could be Toronto-centric wishful thinking on his part.

Anyway, I can't picture the Oilers taking on Luongo's contract. We have Hall and Eberle locked up but we have several budding stars that are going to get large paydays in the coming years.

excellent pick up. seemed to be on the medias (mostly Stauffer) radar for a little while. someone who crushes people and is a beefy presence is nice.

100% pass on Luongo. dont put any assets or dollars into that dude.

I'm pretty confident we won't get Luongo. The Canucks would be a little nutty to trade him to an up and coming division rival. Especially when the majority of their key contributors aren't exactly spring chickens. I'm pretty confident in saying the Canucks' window to win is closing. As such, potentially screwing that up by trading a pretty good regular season goalie to a division rival isn't exactly smart.

^I think you're both right. I can't imagine Gillis wanting to deal Luongo within his own division - giving a motivated Luongo a chance to burn the Canucks in multiple meetings each year, behind that offense you guys have accrued? No thanks.

But then again, it's all about who offers the best deal, so who knows.

He's an UFA. They probably wanted to get value for him and give one of their young, cheaper guys a shot.

So at camp they have:
Petry-Smid
Shultz-Shultz
Whitney-Fistric
Peckham-Potter
Fedun-Tuebert

Just seems like too many guys... I thought the plan was to role with 8 guys through camp not 10...
two of those guys won't be part of camp at this point (Fistric will take a couple of days to arrive, i'm sure). it makes sense to me. the situation in OKC is a moot point; the Oilers are the priority.

Methot is a legit #3 IMO. Love the guy. I think he's gonna play with Karlsson.

He's not physical but very positionally sound and makes a good 1st pass.

Fistric is a #5

Nope.

Peter Sarno traded to Vancouver for Tyler Moss
Brett Hauer traded by Vancouver for 6th round pick in 1997 (Larry Shapley).
Roman Oksiuta traded to Vancouver for Jiri Slegr.
Greg Adams traded to Vancouver with Doug Smith for John LeBlanc and 5th round pick (Peter White).
Moe Lemay traded by Vancouver for Raimo Summanen.
Stu Kulak traded by Vancouver for cash.
Ken Berry traded by Vancouver with Garry Lariviere for Blair MacDonald and Lars-Gunner Petersson.

Probably not big ones, but they have made 7.

While Calgary has only traded with us once.

You acquired a guy who may not have even made the team.

The upside for you is that he does try his heart out. He'll go out of his way to be physical.

Yup. Apparently attacked a few players on the other team and allegedly smashed the opposing teams goalie over the head with his stick.

Kinda weird though, I went to school with the guy and he was always really nice.

It's hard to say what happened because the only thing I saw was some tweets from a few guys who were apparently at the game.
