I'm fine if we do bring in Villa but when are we going to focus on our mediocre backline? Jesus Murphy, we can't keep on dressing Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos and others if we actually think we have a shot at winning any type of silverware.

I was reminded this w-e just how bad Santos and Mertesacker are. Screw the offense, we have players that can put the ball in the back of the net who aren't playing (granted, they're not world class talents but still)... it's keeping the ball out of net that worries me the most.

Solid passer, needs to work on his finishing.

I think he would fit in nicely in the as any one of the three attacking mids in a 4-2-3-1.
Pretty much this. He's really good at seeing lanes others wouldn't see or think of.

However, I've noticed that he doesn't do that well coming off the bench.

But all-in-all, a good player with a bright future if he stops getting injured. He needs to get in form, and stay in form and all else will follow.

He's as good as people like him to think. He's a tricky player but disappears at times and whilst I think he'd do well with the passing from the Arsenal midfield but wouldn't fit in.

Which could be a good move since we need him starting/playing more games for upcoming WC qualifiers

I'd be surprised, Pukki rejected a loan move to Hannover. Apparently likes to be in the stands for matches rather then on the pitch

I'd love it, but don't know where Villa would fit. Wenger seems to [and has the right to, considering his form of late] trust in Giroud as his main striker, and Walcott & Podolski as the main wingers. I just don't see where Villa would fit in a recurent starting role. If he gets anyone, it will be a midfielder IMO. I suspect it will probably be a prime-aged Central Mid, probably with more defensive upside than offensive.

Hoffenheim are in need of a striker right now, hence the rumored destination.

Really he should not play in L1, he's more of a L2 player (and he plays for Reims and not starting most of the time)
Oh god, FCK apparently are going to pay 400k to sign him.

Kuntz must of had a drunken night out in the recent past.

True, but I don't see him moving to a club in the relegation zone.

According to transfermarkt, Gladbach are the front runners now

Yeah same info here in France, with Reims very happy to get anything for him.

In other news, Atletico and Lyon have agreed on a loan (with option to buy) for Gourcuff, but the player has turned them down.

Well we won't have that problem because it's not going to happen anyways...

You know who I miss? David Dein. I don't trust or see strength in the ability of Gazidis and Law to negotiate important transfers. I feel we are a very weak club not only with our stance of letting anybody unhappy go because we are "nice" to our players but also in transfer dealings. I feel like when we are told "no" that our negotiators simply tuck their tail between their legs and head home and then we get the usual "we tried but everybody was too expensive" excuse.

I know Wenger and others act like we ought to run this morally-centered club in a morrally-corrupt world (shhh...don't even think about bringing up snatching foreign teenagers). But if the price of improving your club and winning trophies is getting in bed with scuzzy agents, unsettling players and flexing a little muscle then frankly, we need somebody willing to do that on our behalf.

It doesn't matter who's in charge of the transfer deals, as long as we'll have "limits" on what we're willing to pay in terms of wages and transfer fees, we're basically handcuffing ourselves on our own.

We're supposed to be a contending team, a top team in the EPL but we are making deals like we're a middle of the pack organisation while pocketing all the profits when the true studs are there acquiring top of the line talent for the present and the future.

Balotelli's price is 20M€.

Bastos to Schalke is official too. 2M€ loan with option to buy (don't know how much though).

Finally, an EPL target, Florian Thauvin will leave Bastia for Lille next summer. He's been bought for 3.5M€ but will be loaned to Bastia to finish the season.

I'd still rather see Balotelli in PSG. He has a ton of respect for Zlatan, and I do not think he'd dare be a troublemaker in a team with him. Zlatan could be the perfect mentor for him.
