Eh if not just add Pat Cannone in his spot and plan the parade.

If we end up signing Getzlaf, do we move Spezza? Or do we go with Spezza, Getlzaf and Turris as our 1,2 and 3 centres?

That's a pretty lateral move at best. I prefer Spezza to Getzlaf personally but to each their own. I'm just gonna say that Getzlaf has never scored more than 25 goals in the NHL and hasn't scored 20 goals in 4 years. Meanwhile Spezza has scored 32+ 4 times and hasn't scored less than 21 goals in over 6 years. If you gave Spezza two wingers like Perry and Ryan he would of had 100+ points last year - meanwhile Getz had 57 points in 82 games. Spezza hasn't had that bad a ppg average since his rookie season.

We all like Getzlaf because he has a nasty streak which makes people think he's a more complete player but Spezza is a better goal scorer and playmaker.

He might not have the quickness of some guys but he is a big body and he isn't slow by any means. One of the reasons the Senators drafted him was his skating - he is a very good skater.

No need for another centre, our centre depth is great.

Do not want Getzlaf. Unless you plan on putting him on the 3rd line and paying him 3rd line dollars.

Last year at the start of camp we were thin on goalies and centres and had to many D, now we have to many goalies and our Centre depth is the best in franchise history, and we only have 4 NHL Dmen - how quickly things change

We have six NHL Dmen - just because Cowen and Lundin are injured doesn't mean they don't count. They'll be back.

That is a little crazy. He is a #1 center in the league and if he makes it to FA he will be hotly sought after.

Turris still hasn't proven he is a legit #2 center yet and if we could somehow grab Getzlaf he would of course be our #1A center and Turris would slide to the third spot.

This would not be a bad thing.

Getzlaf has won pretty much everything he can win over his career and we would be damn lucky to get him on our team...more size down the middle is something any team wants but one with the talent and competitiveness of Getzlaf is rare.

Same as above - we have a #1 center a potential #2 center and Smith is either a decent #3 or above average #4 (if he can start to play entire seasons like he did last year then he will be a very good 3rd liner)...other than that there isn't much down the middle.

And regardless, every team could use Getzlaf.

All Getzlaf has proven is that he only wants to play for contenders. If you believe he is 1A that's fine, I was exaggerating slightly. The point is though that he would not be a good fit in Ottawa. I'd rather bank on Turris being a legit 2nd line center then gambling that Getzlaf will choose to try here in Ottawa.

The year he won the cup, he was the 3rd line center (in terms of ice time) on his team. He hasn't done anything since he became the 1st line center on his team.

Might want to get a scouting report from the Coyotes board but from what I can remember, I think he's capable of being a bottom pairing defenseman this year. Since we missed out on uniting the Michalek brothers, I think the Stone bros would be a good second choice.

If we get Perry and Edler I can almost personally guarantee Alfredsson will come back for another year barring any CATASTROPHIC injury that forces him to be physically unable to play. Even if it's a role on the 3rd line with limited minutes. That roster has the chance to contend for the cup and Alfredsson won't bow out that quickly with such an opportunity.

Calgary's 1st, go go go Murray. They won't mind because they are "playoff bound". In the summer Ottawa can walk away smiling with a top 5 pick.
