In the right situation, yes. Murray needs to find that. We paid a 2nd for him.

It will take a few weeks bnefore teams understand whether or not their projected goalie can carry the load. If they are close and the problem is between the pipes, Bishop might be their answer.
What? In what world?

Edit: Exactly, we paid a 2nd. How has his stock improved to a 1st and a player? What has he done that would warrant that?

1st OR a player. His stats here and in the AHL warrant that. He's played some good games here.

Varlamov got a 1st from Colorado last year, and it was (and still is) considered an awful deal value-wise

In no world would an NHL GM trade a 1st for Ben Bishop

Great AHL stats and average NHL stats = 1st or a great player?

From this weekend B Garrioch "column" (and i say column as if its sarcastic yet i read it every week )

Yandle may be available for a scoring forward and high pick.
What does it take from Ottawa?
Would we want to pay it?

Personally id much rather have a long term high end solution on D, rather than nickel and dime pieces from the organization as stop gaps.

I think the only guy that would work is Michalek and i dont want to part with him.
Michalek, Spezza, Silfverberg, Alfie, Turris, Latendresse

Alfie, Spetz, Turris wont work for obvious reasons. Lats has no value right now in a trade like this, Silf is not going anywhere and he's not established enough for Phoenix.

So michalek?
Not for me personally, anyone like that?
Zbad and a 1st?

Any other package work?
IMO our ideal package is Goalie, Z bad, 1st rounder. (not just for yandle just in general.)
Doesnt impact our current roster and deals from our strongest areas.

what does that package get us in your opinions?

Murray did not want to give up his first last year, and this year the draft is even deeper.

Damn you Edler and resigning with Vancouver!

I would do Bishop, Zibanejad and a 2nd for Yandle in a heartbeat. I don't know if that would be enough though.

yeah id do that too.
Id really like to get another mid aged talented dman and Yandle seems to be perfect (26 yrs), although he is a left shot with Cowen and Methot also lefties can any of them effectively play the right side? i can never remember...

id say we get one really good shot at a big deal that doesnt take anything off our roster and leaves us with lots in the prospect cupboard.
Hope we use it on a high end dman. its just so hard to get good D UFAs.

We have no 2nd this year so I highly doubht we move our first unless it's for an impact younger player with a contract.

Karlsson 6'6 Flames goalie dealt for a 7th... NHL career 26GP .905sv%

Why is Bishop worth a 2nd? Or as some people believe more then a 2nd... In 23 NHL games he has a .902sv%

Because Ottawa radio makes it sounds like weve got 3 Vezina winners on our roster right now.

He is only worth what somebody is willing to pay. We were willing to give up a 2nd. Thats what he was worth then.

Because Karlsson is 29 and only played 29 games, while Bishop is 25, plus better AHL stats and body of work who is still considered somewhat of a prospect with a #1 upside.

Bishop is 26 years old... AHL is filled with goalies in there mid to late 20's who kill it

and really he hasn't done anything since then to raise his stock. I'd be thrilled if we got a 2nd back for him.

I feel for the guy, the lockout really ruined his chances here in Ottawa

If he was considered some AHL goalie then Murray wouldn't have been receiving calls about him.

So I should expect a solid return, anything less then a 2nd should be viewed as a failure?

Posters don't seem to realize goalie values are quite a bit less then skaters. Especially inexperienced tenders like Bishop.

Bishop's value is pretty much the same as it was when we got him from St.Louis.

The Henrik Karlsson trade should actually be taken into GOOD light. He was waived a couple days ago for anyone to grab but because teams are getting desparate he was moved for something in return.

I understand that Bishop hasn't done much in the NHL but he's at a stage when goalies usually break-out, you said that yourself Fuhr in an Elliot thread you made a while ago. Also, Bishop was considered best goalie in the A a year ago and has played real solid this year.

I do understand that he hasn't really done anything in the NHL(Most importantly) and that his value atm is on par as it was last year; therefore I say we hold onto him, play him a couple games and deal him at the deadline while his value will be much higher than it is now, of course this is under the condition he plays will when he does play.

Just wondering if Sens fans would go back in time and undo the turris trade?

A refresher:
Ottawa traded David Rundblad and a 2nd rounder in 2012 (Anthony Stolarz) for Turris.
Ottawa traded there 1st rounder in 2010 (Vladimir Tarasenko) for David Rundblad.

Would you guys still make the trade or would have NOW rather gone with Vlad?

The Senators would not have drafted Tarasenko so I think most people are happy with that series of trades.
