While I agree I still think it is odd to reward financial mis-management, sets a bad example

Lmao. Busted. What a dolt. He hasn't played a single game, yet you saw him 5 or 6 times? Where? Loblaws?

As much as I'd like to see Redden return to Ottawa, there's no fit here. We're heavy on puck movers and short on stay at home guys. I hope he gets a job somewhere in the NHL though. He has something to prove.

I'm not sure that Ceci's skating ability would make him a PMD.. He's quite slow.. Great shot though..

I think you're thinking 'puck rusher', because you don't need to be fast to be a PMD. Just be a good passer/play maker.

Ceci is a terrific puck mover. He's never going to be an end to ender like Karlsson, but he has great offensive instincts. Real intelligent player.

Exactly.

He wont wow you with dazzle and speed but he's extremely effective at moving the puck. He also has a rocket of a clapper.

To me even though they're basically the same age, I've always seen Ceci as a poormans Dougie Hamilton.

Did I say I saw him play this season? He asked me if I saw him play and I said yes, last spring break when I was down at Connecticut. Read first dolt.

Andrea Lilja and M.A Gragnani were placed on waivers today.

Both of those two would be a decent pick up, Lilja is a big stay at home swedish dman that brings some physicality, could be a good option on the 3rd pair.

Gragnani is a 6'2 25 year old puck moving dman, just last season he put up 12 points in 44 games with Buffalo as his first NHl season, he has amazing AHL stats, could be abetter option than Benoit as he seems to have some size.

From my limited viewings of Gragnani he seemed quite below average defensively. I don't think he'd be the answer imo.

Gragnani can't play defense.

Seriously. Think MAB but worse at defense.

OTT: Lubomir Visnovski
NYI: Ben Bishop

Sure he might be small, but we would have the most elite puck moving D in the NHL. Might not be the guy we are looking for, but it would be interesting. No team would touch the puck coming out of our zone, it would be puck possesion madness

Seems to play RD?

Trading a mid-twenties goaltender with promise for a soon-to-be retiring KHL holdout? Can't say I am on board. Sorry. If they move Bishop I would want Ottawa to get a player that is going to help the team long-term or an asset that can be flipped at a later date.

Visnovsky is a major headache right now. I'd want some kind of guarantee that he'd actually show up before trading anything for him.

He's an All Star and is in game shape, he doesn't want to play in NYI but who does - the place is a **** whole.

Rebuilding teams do not trade young assets for aging veterans before a trade deadline where they are serious playoff threats. Don't believe Ottawa is still rebuilding? Go watch Murray, Melnyk, and Mac talk about the team over the past week.

If Ottawa hits the first week of April looking like a team that has a chance to go all the way then sure I could see them doing something like what you are suggesting. For now they are doing the right thing by just sticking with what they've got.

Methot - Kalrsson
Phllips - Visnovsky
Boro - Gonchar
Weircosch - Lundin

Looks like a pretty scary and deep D

Hasn't Murray been saying he is in the market for a veteran D and is looking to trade for one? Kinda blows your theory up
