Calgary needs to move defenseman

With Calgary signing Wideman recently Calgary has a surplus of

defenseman. Which teams and what would you offer? The Flames have

Bouwmeester
Sarich
The Anton
Wideman
Brodie
Smith
Giordano
Butler

I'm guessing
Wideman, Giordano and Brodie are the only ones that won't be traded
everyone else is fair game. Thoughts?

Babchuck will most likely be traded for a late pick or waived and problem is solved.

Depending on the + on our side, I would do it.

Isn't Babchuk injured?

Running with 7 healthy defensemen on the roster isn't out of the ordinary.

Calgary needs to move a lot more than defensemen. Start with ownership, work your way down.

Bouwmeister to Minnesota?

I don't know what the Flames need though. Maybe some of our prospects?

I guess with 7D no one needs to be traded but I didn't know Babchuk was injured. I think him or Sarich would be the ones to go.

I think we need Rattie the reason being his chemistry with Sven is there any way getting Rattie without trading Bouwmeester?

No they do not. The Blues cannot afford Jbo and would never trade for him unless Calgary eats 1/2 of his salary

Unless Brodie is ready to supplant one of the top four minute crunchers (JayBow, Wideman, Giordano & Butler), I don't expect any major trades with regard to the CGY blueline corp.

He has been practing as the 7th defenseman and as others have said Babchuck has yet to skate I doubt we see any move.

i wanna give bouwmeester another chance and see how he does under a offensive minded guy like hartley. i see a lot more of Bouw this season. but if he still fizzles out i'd move him for some cheaper Dmen and a pick.

What do you consider good? Karlsson??? Not every defenseman on a team has to be good just mediocre or just enough to get by just like Sarich/Babchuk/Smith. Brodie is still developing I would say Giordano/Wideman are pretty good but Bouwmeester.... Thats another story.

Agreed. You can also argue that Brodie might be able to crack a top 4 ranking by the end of the season. We will see.

I really don't see this as an issue right now. Might be, if more of them were signed through this season and beyond. With the shortened season, it's good to carry an extra guy.
