Interesting tidbits:
1. He was shocked when Getzlaf was still there at 19 in 2003
2. He was the one who wanted to trade up back into the 1st round to get Perry
3. His look in the group picture with Getzlaf

What he said about his approach to scouting intrigued me the most:

"I go by what a guy lacks. As a glass half empty type of guy I go by what he doesn't have, and I try to make my decision based on that."

These are the kind of things I love. I hope they do more of these for the deadline, free agency and the upcoming drafts.

Pretty interesting. He's definitely ready to move some guys out, though. You can tell he has strong negative opinions about some players -- we just don't know who.

Ted Black mentioned this morning that there is an upcoming BB&G episode with camera's inside the war room. That will be a fun watch.

Kevin Devine didn't look too impressed, although I guess he never looks too impressed.

The more I see of Murray, the more I like him. I honestly think with his regime, the days of the small quick, annoying-pest-like team will be a thing of the past.

Must be why he picked up Conacher.

......and drafted the likes of Zadorov, Ristolainen, Kea and Girgensons. Bought out Gerbe and traded away Ennis.

Devine: "...and he goes out the window for nothing...". Sounded like he didn't like the Halak trade at all.

It sounded like there was no market for Halak beyond Washington based on Devine's comment that Halak would be walking out the door for nothing. They probably viewed the trade as Neuvirth for a 3rd, with Klesla replacing McNabb in Rochester. Given that's what Scrivens netted LA, that's about the market for backups who may have low-end starter potential.

I wonder who/what Murray is talking about at 2:27...

"Like, is that gonna get it done? Or is he gonna be like, 'I don't need anymore American players?'"

Sounds like he was trying to make a deal to trade one of our American players. Only options are:

Flynn
McBain
Ruhwedel
Stafford
Weber

Had to be something around Stafford, I'd think.

Edit: Others are right, he says "American league players". Still interesting, as he would appear to be talking about a trade that didn't happen. Unless he's talking about the McNabb trade?
