Random NHL related Thread

Rather than start up a new thread for topics going on around the NHL, we can just have one thread which includes the CBA, the potential positioning of the draft, other organizations, European NHL updates, etc...

162 PIMS in 30 games in the NO CONTACT / NO FIGHTING British league

He must be getting 10 min misconducts and Game misconducts for verbal abuse of the Refs.

Or perhaps its a violation to use Curse Words in a game while the Queen is in attendance in the crowd..

Received this a couple weeks ago regarding my ticket refund. Just thought I'd share it.

Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club

February 17, 2005

Dear xxxx,

As you probably know, the National Hockey League has announced that in the absence of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement the remainder of the 2004-05 season is cancelled.

On behalf of the entire Toronto Maple Leafs organization, we want to let you know how sorry and upset we are that it has come to this. Your patience and understanding during this difficult time has been remarkable. We truly regret that this has become necessary and share your frustration.

The objective of the National Hockey League in these negotiations is and continues to be, the creation of a partnership with the players that provides great entertainment at competitive prices. The NHL needs the confidence that the Leafs and all other teams can compete for the Stanley Cup year in and year out within an economic structure that is fair for the players, the owners, our business partners, and most of all for our fans.

Although we are terribly disappointed that the season has been cancelled, we anticipate this will be resolved and that we will be playing hockey in the fall. A new economic system is essential to ensuring a strong future for the game, but we have been very vocal to ensure the League understands our point of view and the necessity of getting this resolved as quickly as possible.

Toronto Maple Leafs Season Seat Holders are the best fans in Hockey. Your loyalty has been unwavering, and we do not take that for granted. As previously outlined, you will receive a refund for each cancelled game, with interest. You should expect your refund cheque and statement in the mail by March, 1, 2005. Credit card refunds will begin immediately.

If you have any questions about your refund, please feel free to contact your account service representative at (416) 703-LEAF (5323). For more information about the status of the collective bargaining negotiations, please log on to www.nhlcbanews.com.

Sincerely,

Richard Peddie

If the NHL truly means that then Everyone should read this Article ..

NHL must put fans first upon return

So long as we're blowing up the NHL, let's blow it up right. So long as we're starting over, or at least taking 10 steps backward, let's make sure that the owners aren't the only ones feeling vindicated once play resumes. What a crime it will be if this lockout ends without financial relief for the fans, the group that's been squeezed tightest of all.

It's time NHL owners realized they're not the only ones appalled by how deeply they've had to reach into their pockets. They think the league's average salary of $1.8 million is out of hand? Then they should know most families of four feel the same way about the average expense of attending a game, pegged at $253 by Team Marketing Report.

Wow! The defence are being more offensive than usual. We could use that here.

Well we were first in the league in Defenseman points last year i think we were at least top three so that really isnt a problem for our team. One thing i am looking for is Pilar to play a much bigger role when hockey gets back going. Maybe on the second pairing with Kaberle. It could be helpful for both of them to play with each other.
