He was an above-average top-6 forward in New Jersey - first line centre for a couple years - and had one good year in New York. That year was nearly five seasons ago. Whatever Gomez had, he's lost it.

That is quite simply not true. Ludicrous.

I'll take Gomez for free over taking Bozak in a trade for Luongo any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Well, duh. A free asset is always better than giving up something.

Actually I did some research and that's how I came to this conclusion. Despite how bad Gomez was last year he still had a better CORSI and better possession stats than Bozak. That's saying something. But believe what you want.

I really would like to know why people value Tyler Bozak at all. If this guy were in Carolina I bet most people wouldn't even have heard of him.

I think he'd be a great compliment to Kesler

I would like to hear why Bozak sucks defensively, in a well thought out argument.

I don't value Bozak at all, but I know today he's better than Gomez.

His possession stats are terrible, his CORSI numbers are pathetic, his linemates defensive numbers actually improved without Bozak on their line. He just isn't a good player.

Its not like there wont be a few cap floor teams interested in getting a goalie that counts $5M towards the cap for $1M ..... and will likely still be a very solid goalie.
Can't tell if your being serious here. Did you just say big deal to the penelty Luongo brings if/when he retires early? Look no one denies that Luo is a great, No amazing goalie. But its the cunuck fans that just won't admit that his contract sucks now. Like everyone knows its bad Who cares. I personally think Grabovski has a bad contract. See its really not that hard to admit the truth.

Btw I love Grabo I shall also point out that the bottom part of the reply wasn't necessarily to you.

Well thats the context the discussion should be phrased in because thats the only way it happens...Gomez for free or Bozak as an acquired asset.

Right now Luongo's contract is fine. In 6 years it sucks, yes.

I'm not in favour of Bozak but you do realize he's a 3rd line C on any other team. He was playing against top D pairings and shutdown lines that would obviously impact his overall Corsi. He was playing way out of his range at #1 C.

Let's stop the hyperbole.

No Gomez isn't a 70 point guy anymore. No one is saying he is. He has likely lost a step. He isn't that big. He has had injury issues.

However I would say 14+ minutes a game is beyond 4th line minutes.

That said, while Kulemin may have had trouble dealing with tragedy is it not also possible that Gomez was also human and had trouble dealing with things? you know things like being injured and trying to get back into the lineup. Dealing with the pressure when every single little mistake you made or post you hit you were decried a complete failure and overpaid bum? Would it not be possible to conceive that his game may also have been affected?

Yes 11 points in 38 games. Certainly not good. The Habs had a whopping 4 forwards over 30 points (canucks had 7)! They weren't a very good scoring team.

Yet through it all he still maintained a 35 point a season pace the last two seasons. He may not be the answer to many questions but the one question he could be the answer to is "who can the canucks pay under 900k to potentially play center ice on the second line and bottom 6 when Kesler is healthy and not cost any assets?"

At this point he would likely be a better option than Ebbett. Schroeder potentially as well. I don't see the harm in finding out to tell you the truth.

If he isn't the answer then no harm and no foul.

He wasn't. Grabovski gets by far the toughest minutes and does well in them. At center, both Steckel and Connolly had slightly tougher match-ups and handled them marginally better while not having the luxury of playing with Kessel and Lupul.

The only way Bozak makes any sense is if Anaheim is interested in him as a stopgap 2C and would take him as a roster player in a Perry deal.

Ballard's contract is a problem for the way he played. Luongo is just fine.
