Final score 4-1.

Khokhlachev was the #1 star with 2 goals on 2 shots. Add me to the list of folks happy he wasn't traded to Calgary.

Spooner now has 13 goals and 36 assists for 49 points in 52 games. He is now the top rookie scorer in the AHL.

Yup. And they moved into first place in the East and tied for first place in the AHL.

Spooner should have been first; Cassidy put Koko, Spooner, and Knight out last minute and Knight set up Spooner for great chance. Knight drew a penalty and took one for a questionable elbow- but showed the wheels. Good first game

@MarkDivver

"On Dec. 1 @AHLBruins were 8-8 with 1 SO loss. Since then they've gone 33-13 with 4 SO losses for 70 of a possible 100 points."

What a great march to first this has been, what a roll!

Koko, I still think he will be the best offensive prospect, I was so glad he did not go to Calgary as above, and I am glad that Iginla didn't come here as he didn't want to, I would rather have #68 in the lineup.

Cunningham and camper? I'm curious if they will be able to make the jump- both have produced at every level to this point and are a bit under the radar.

He's not. He'll be back tomorrow afternoon. They don't want to play him all 3 games in 3 nights while transitioning him back in.

Smart move.

Got back from the game not too long ago - Providence beat Manchester 4-3.

Providence started off the game with a 5 minute PP, I think it was Cross who was checked from behind. Spooner took a quick shot on goal, rebound went out and Hanson buried it.

Manchester tied it up, but Providence kept battling. It wasn't a game where Providence was decisively the better team, but Hutchy made the big saves that Jones for Manchester didn't.

I was rather unimpressed with Khoko. His effort level left something to be desired, the whole top line looked like it was orchestrated by Spooner and as Spooner went the line went. In fact, the top line got hemmed in a couple of times and Manchester scored on them.

On Cunningham and Camper - they didn't stand out to me, really. Looking back at the stats, apparently Camper potted one of the goals and an assist (goal was EN SHG), but I never really noticed anything great about him. Their line did have the most offensive zone time, however.
Krug had a blistering one timer that beat Jones glove side, beauty goal. Great celebration too.

Providence had the 4-2 lead with under a minute to go and Manchester scored off of a real choppy play with 3 seconds left. Hutchinson was pissed off and was mouthing off to the refs even after regulation.

All in all, solid 60 minute effort from the baby B's. I was hoping for a bit more pugilistic activity, but Robbins had no takers. Providence's defense seems to struggle in getting the puck out of the zone.

The win over Manchester puts Providence at the top of the 30 team AHL.

Was at the game tonight too. Spooner's vision, offensive creativity and speed was something to be desired. Hutchinson came up with the saves when the team needed them most, but still let up a couple softies. Krug's goal was awesome. All around good effort for the team - much different than when I last saw them back in 2011 with Colborne, Hamill and company.

Koko had a tough game, however, he was at left wing after being a center his career- he looked lost in defensive zone coverage (as much as I have ever seen anyone lost- he was consciously playing not subconsciously); he was looking all over the place for his man and was as out of position as any player I have ever seen. He will have trouble winning many battles along the wall but there are other ways to get the puck. The line even got benched with about 7 minutes left in the second after the second Monarchs goal- great shot but that line was on both time (maybe it was Ryan and Koko just benched, Tardiff may have gone out)

but- Khokhlachev is very talented and it is new to him- and the game before they were the best line on the ice; Spooner has the throttle down which is a good thing, and he is on another level than most of these guys. He is invaluable to the Bruins especially with the Bergeron latest setback- and next year should push for a spot and eventually be a very good NHL player certainly offensive has damn near elite level and he kind of gets the defense stuff and is getting better I'm told.

Knight watched the game but Sweeney scheduled this. I would love to see him with Spooner because Jared has the shot and can fly and Spooner would find him. Knight needs games but Claude will love him because he is a defensive responsible player and can get after it. His body has changed the past 4 months and is leaner but still very muscular- more hockey body than football body now to me; I know he's just a tick under 5'11" but he looks taller probably because he is not as blocky but he is still a house.

Spooner should be an interesting player to watch next September- he's got great folks and that area is loaded with hockey players for him to skate and work out with. Would love to see him and Knight just be locked up together because they compliment each other so much and have so much energy. Knight has only played 4 games in a year so he's got some catching up to do, but once he does look out.

PBruins with a 1-0 win over Hartford -- Spooner with the only goal.

Divver: Niklas Svedberg is 22-2-1 in his last 25 decisions!
