They could also be waiting to tell guys like Olver or Scarbossa because they got word an O'Reilly deal is close. Wouldn't be nice to tell them they made the team and then have to change their minds a few hours later.
It was reported by Mile High Hockey blog. They "claim" to have gotten it from the Bordeleau family which may or may not be true.
Even if it is true it still doesn't mean anything. Maybe Bordeleau was the first player that spoke with the coaching staff and the minute he left the meeting room he text'd his family.
OK, so what? It still has nothing to do with O'Reilly being signed or traded. Until a deal is made with O'Reilly he's not on the Avs roster.
Mile High Hockey has no reason to make something up. Maybe the family member did but if MHH reported it I believe they really were told he made the team.
Bordy was one of the last guys off the ice today. The last 2 days, Sgarbossa stayed almost an hour after practice was over with a small group of guys doing puck handling drills. Today, he came over with that same group and was called over by a coach and left the ice a couple minutes after.
There aren't enough question marks on this roster for it to take this long to figure out.
I wonder if Mark Guy is still pushing the one of the best two way players in the last 25 years angle? I think it's hilarious that he showed up with a package of stats to prove this. That has got to be one of the most subjective, and situational roles in all of hockey to make comparisons on players in the same season, let alone 25 years ago.
That covers the bulk of Guy friggin Carbonneau's career by the way, who was still in Montreal in his 5th season 25 years ago. Is he really gonna compare O'Reilly's game right now to all those guys like that from back then? He's not even the best in the league right right now! There are at least a few guys ahead of him at this point in his career, and if that package of stats was suppose to prove what he's gonna be in the future, I'm gonna have a laughing fit.
