It would probably take more than that. Probably have to add in another prospect like Pickard and maybe a 2nd. Even that may not be enough.

Of course I love O'Reilly, but trading him for a D might be the best thing to do... As for Gardiner, I'm not sure about the guy yet. He looks good, but I'd want more than him to trade O'Reilly away.
In all honesty, OEL is nothing but a PIPE DREAM in ANY trade scenario for damn near any team.

Nothing short of a ridiculous overpayment would pry him from Phoenix. Believe me, I'd love it if we acquired him. But that's like Phoenix saying that they'd love to acquire Landeskog. Yeah it's "nice on paper" but it won't happen.

Of course it's highly unlikely for us to get OEL, but eyh, I always mention him. Have to love the kid.

For me the guy I'd want is Hedman.

Not sure how that gets done though...unless TB needs a taker for leCavalier as well for cap relief. Then it becomes a gigantic blockbuster of a deal.

Lecavalier
Hedman

For

RoR
Wilson
Barrie
Picks

Ok...I'll wake up now. Lol...not gonna happen.

I'd rather not trade Barrie (rather make that Siemens) and Lecavalier's contract scares me. I'd love Hedman for O'Reilly though

I really like the Radar + Prospect for Kulikov + Matthias deal if we have to move Ryan. Matthias would be a solid third line center and Kulikov's exactly the type of young and ascending player we love to pick up and would develop into a killer partner for EJ.

THeir games would mesh very well, EJ's bigger and better defensively, but Kulikov's strong in his own end himself, and with his great skating would let EJ take more risks, when we get back the puck both can initiate the rush with a smart pass or just by taking off.

I agree with most. it's almost an inevitability that Yandle or Kulikov dons an Avs jersey in place of either Stas or Radar via trade. how can it not happen now. It makes sense lol especially the Radar + Dman for Kulikov + 3C

I know my swedes and I have to say Hedman has been a bitter disappointment. OEL is considered the next Lidström. (Low expectations ha?)

But Hedman has barely developed at all during his three years in the NHL. I'm sure he will take a step this season, but overall a disappointment. He was without a doubt the worst defenseman on the team during the WC. I would not be happy trading RoR for that guy. Also, he isn't the player type we would need IMO.

O'Reilly for Hedman would be highway robbery.

O'Reilly for Hedman... I wouldn't want that deal to go through. But I dont know what you meant. I dont know if you meant a robbery for Avs or Tampa?

I'd still gamble on Hedman, at worst he'll be a mid-range NHL defenseman.

That's likely to happen. I would not trade O'Reilly unless we get a 3C in return as well as a good d-man.

I beg to differ. I guess it depends on your expectations for said player.

Personally, when you consider that this kid came in as an 18 year old in the NHL and has NEVER averaged under 20:00mins per game, that's an impressive feat in itself.

2009-10 - 20:50 mins avg time on ice
2010-11 - 21:00 mins avg time on ice
2011-12 - 23:05 mins avg time on ice

Then you need consider there rest of the defensive corps for the team he's playing with. Since 2009, he's played with such superstars as Meszaros, Ohlund, Mike Lundin,Brewer, Kubina, Brett Clark and Marc-Andre Bergeron. In short, he hasn't had the benefit of being insulated like OEL over in Phoenix. So if your expectations are that this guy is supposed to put up 40 points per season, well yeah, for sure you're disappointed but for a young defenseman, that's certainly not all there is to it. He's still learning and developing and a good 5 years (if not more) away from his prime.

Thirdly, to write off a d-man that's actually been able to play those kinds of minutes, at that age, without looking god-awful and having a -25 every year, is a bit short-sighted in my opinion. Hedman will become a force in this league, I'm quite certain of that.

I would offer up RoR for Hedman, in a 1 for 1 deal without any hesitation whatsoever but I doubt the Lightning bite. (plus he might just turn around and trade RoR to the red wings )

O'Reilly will troll us all and say he's coming back to Denver to compete with Duchene..... only to say it's a fishing tournament at the end of the press release.

Meehan was on both TSN and Sportsnet yesterday (PR tour) arguing that the market has changed and good young players should have big long second contracts that buys a few UFA years. I think it's obvious they are trying to change how the market works and are trying their hardest to avoid shorter bridge contracts (less money for agents). It's no coincidence that Meehans contracts demand this and that their clients are holding out (Doughty last year, O'Reilly and Subban now).

I guess Sather told them to **** off and del Zotto could rot if he persisted that got Meehan to fold and accept a shorter bridge contract. In that case they wanted a much longer contract with a higher annual salary initially.
