Would Pens consider moving him? Leaf fan interested. Like his leadership, grit and scoring ability. Anything in Toronto that interests you?

Kulemin is the obvious answer.

Indeed. Not that I wouldn't love to be faced with the dilemma of how to plug Kulemin into the mix, but one problem would be that Kulemin and Malkin have shown chemistry together and would almost certainly be put on the same line. Splitting up Malkin and Neal will not be done. That leaves Malkin with two studs (Kulmein and Neal) and Crosby with Dupuis and nobody.

I am not really seeing it. Kulemin for Kunitz is a classic lateral move. Little worse, Little younger. It`s not helping the Pens out with anything at all and, tbh, I don`t think it is the move the Leafs need to make either.

Kunitz won't be moved. Pens will likely want to add on to their current lineup for a Cup run, not subtract from it.

But Kunitz brings proper levels of pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence that the Leafs desire!

i don't think the Pens should trade Kunitz unless they get a suitable enough replacement at wing for him, and by suitable i mean someone who can gel well with Crosby. i don't think that type of winger is available on the Leafs.

I think the Leafs would reject that pretty handily.
Indeed, that's the kind of trade offer that their fanbase gets routinely mocked for.

Kunitz won't be moved since moving him just opens up another hole in the top six. Any deal involving him would have to involve a top six winger coming back, and that's not too likely to happen mid-season.

That said if the Leafs want to talk Kulemin, I'd have that conversation.

Kunitz simply has much more value to the Pens than anyone would want to offer up for him. He'd create a big hole that would need to be filled, filled with an equal or better option because this is a team trying to compete for the cup. Then factor in that he's already been around the team for a while now, he hasn't done anything to make the Pens want to deal him, the chemistry is already there, he fits the team very well. All that adds up to him not being traded.

If the leafs are trading for a 33 year old forward making 3.75M/year who isn't a centre... they should shoot themselves in the foot now and be done with it.

Pens aren't moving Kunitz and we will be looking to add a winger before the end of the season

Kunitz isn't going ANYWHERE. Pittsburgh wants to win a Cup and he would be in the plans to get there. Pittsburgh has cap room to use and will be adding talent, not trading it. He will remain a Penguin for the reasons you like him. I don't see a match that Toronto could offer. I certainly wouldn't trade Kunitz for Kulemin.

I think that accurately describes the situation from a Leaf's perspective.
