TFP (I know) is saying the Ducks are the one team that is out.

LET IT BE DEAR LORD PLEASE! I never thought I'd be praying for Gomez back. Maybe someone leaked that he was signed, but it hasn't been confirmed by a real source yet. Could be made up.

Not that he's proven to be the most reliable or anything, but I saw the title of the thread changed to him going to the Ducks at the same time TFP had this:

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod
The Gomez sweepstakes are still ongoing... One team now out of the running: Anaheim.

Again, not that the above is exactly the most reliable. But to see that the same time I see this thread saying he DID sign... that was a nice little confusing moment...

I want Gomez to sign elsewhere just to read the cliff jumpers on this board.

I kinda want Gomez back just to see people squirm. And because he could 'possibly' help more than most of what we're running out at forward.

Let's not believe anything on Twitter that isn't a "real" news source - I.e., TSN or a team.

Right? Right.

Lou better be all over Gomez if the asking price is less then a million per... I mean I'd rather have Gomez over Janssen or Barch 100x out of 10.

Jesus Christ Lou, can you sign one of Sykora or Gomez and stop inking turds like the goons you so desperatly love, please?

Gomez will sign elsewhere. Many on here will complain. We will quietly bring Sykora in about 12 hours later. All will be forgotten.

I think Gomez would be good on this team. Cause he still got the wheels on him. He can skate the puck into the zone which we barely saw the Devils do last year. Kovy was the only guy not dumping it in when they hit the blue line. Plus he doesnt need to play center he could be on the wing. Also you could make the line ELIAS-Gomez-HENRIQUE. All three could play center. You can never have enough D and centers. The guy signed a contract that any player would at the time and he couldnt handle the pressure. He was not used to playing in big markets. Lets face it NJ is not a big market. Not many people want to play here, which is sad because the past 15 years we have been one of the best organizations.

I have no idea why you and several other posters are against the idea of bringing in someone that can actually play the game, even if he had a couple of rough seasons in Montreal, when our forward depth is bordeline mediocre.

He'd come at a bargain of a price and the risk is well worth it IMO.

They can't put the name and circumstance behind them.

An NHL'er caliber center for a cheap price is a good deal every day of the week.

I am not really against it at all. But people are gonna go crazy if we don't sign him.

People react as if Crosby is begging us to sign him for 1 million, but Lou is saying no.

And to cowbell. I only really started to follow the Devils religiously just as Gomez left. So I don't really know the bad blood. I don't hold really any grudges at all.

If Gomez is not signed by us I would be shocked if Lou did indeed offer him something. Unless we see him sign for a lot of money somewhere else. Or for a 2 year contract which I still don't see him getting, but it's possible for real cheap.

No once Lou knocked him out of his cocky arrogant phase he was fine. The players in MTL and NY said he was a pleasure to be around much like he was before he left here.

Petr Sykora scored as many goals last year, one season removed from the NHL than Gomez has scored in his Montreal career. Sykora contributes so much more than that clown.

Well, now we have Barch to show us his scoring touch ... If we don't sign Sykora for whatever reason I at least want Gomez.

Lou said he didn't want to sign Sykora because he wanted to see what the kids could do.

Now that we've proven that Tedenby and Pesonen suck, hopefully he realizes how much we need Sykora. Bobby Butler isn't the answer.

I'd rather sign neither than sign Gomez.

If we don't sign anyone, it means Lou doesn't want to add another roster to the team. If we pursue Gomez, it means we're willing to add a player. That player should be Sykora, not Gomez.

No I don't think so. Sometimes he, and Burns didn't get along the greatest, and he and Larry never got along the greatest.

Agreed. At this point not just an NHL caliber center, but an NHL caliber forward is a good deal right about now.

Tedenby made the team and will be skating in the top 6 tomorrow he had to be "sent down" until Butler clears to make the roster limit.
