Kyper is the Eklund of the TV media.

I remember his Clarkson to the Leafs rumor a few years ago. Dude is a total clown.

LOL TV Eklund!

Another guy who knows jack **** about what we do. I'll give him his due on his lockout coverage towards the end, but unless it's Flyers news, I wouldn't trust him either. Even then I'm not sure I'd trust him.

Me too, I think we could put him in a situation that he would do well with. I'm also still pissed we didn't bring Poni back for the contract he got. It feels like we're going into the season with 8 legitimate NHL defenseman and 8 legitimate NHL forwards.

Because it's a waste of a roster spot on a team that already has cuts to make. He's not worth the spot. And because if we're going to give up a spot to a FA, it should be Sykora. We're short goal scorers. We're not short playmakers.

There are no leaks on the Devils side. I'm sure there are leaks on the Gomez side. No reason not to believe several credible sources.

There is not a person with a heartbeat walking the planet that would've turned down that contract with the Rangers.

He was never worth that contract. Maybe what Zajac just got at the most. Adjusted for inflation maybe a little lower, but he did have a few 70 points season. That was just Sather sticking it to us by taking our old guys. Just like he did with Holik. Just like what he also probably would have done to Parise had they not been in on Nash.

Sykora can't keep up, period. What's the use of signing someone when you can't utilize him come playoff time? Gomez, IMO is way better then Sykora and would also allow us to move Henrique on the wing, where he should be and looks better.

Speed is a major plus in this league and Sykora doesn't have it. We need goals, I get that, and what's better then a playmaker who'll make his wingers score more goals then a single forward who'll run out of gas eventually.

He is not a waste of a roster spot. Let's not be ridiculous. Don't let your bitterness about him dilute your feelings.

Has he regressed? Yes. Is he any where even remotely close to the Gomez that won 2 cups with us? No. Was he even worth 1/2 of the contract he was given? No. But he still is a skilled hockey player and in t
he right situation could turn his career around. It's not out of the question.

And I'm sorry. Shoot me. Call me clueless but yes I'd rather give Matteaus spot to Gomez and let Matteau play in the A for a year.

I'd also rather have Gomez than Barch.Gomez is a few seasons removed from 60 points. And 2 years ago he had 31 assists and almost 40 points. We cannot find a place for that for under a mill? Either of those guys can make the 2 hour trip from Albany if called up and Gomez didn't pan out.

In fairness, you never lose your ability to score goals. And Sykora can still put the puck in the net no matter how slow he is. But I am on board with everything you have said about Gomez. I wish we had Sykora in OT of games 1 and 2 Cup Finals last year.

Apparently, the Devils did have a decent amount of interest in Gomez, but he's going to sign with a Western Conference team.

I'm not sure why he's taken this long to wait to sign. This long for what will likely just be a one year deal wherever he goes out west if he does go that way.

I can still see him signing with the Devils though.

I'm wonder how Gulitti really knows this. From what other reporters have said? I mean the part about us apparently having interest in him. We saw what happened when he counted us out on Kovy.

Well if noon (or whenever Butler clears/gets taken off waivers) passes tomorrow and the Devils still haven't signed Gomez, forget it. There's no other real reason for him to delay if he was coming here, and it is a bit fishy Gomez was 'supposed' to have signed somewhere today and didn't. You'd think he would want to get with a team as fast as possible, unless he's waiting for something or trying to extract a seven-figure salary.

Yeah I do find it odd that he's still entertaining offers. Like I said 6 or 7 hours tops to sign with the Rangers. I'm sure it was by far the best offer, but I'm sure he listened to a bunch that day. Could it be even though he's already making all that buyout money that he's still trying to maximize his earning potential post buyout?

It could also be hoping for a two-year contract, which probably ain't coming.

I do find it amusing that everyone's getting their hopes up. Even if we do sign him, we'll be lucky if he's anything close to a savior. If he has Sykora production from last year that'd be a major coup.

I wonder if TG knows this of his own knowledge, or if it was passed on by another journalist. If it's his own source, he's probably correct. If he's passing along someone else's scoop, he's very probably wrong.

Either way I'm glad Lou is trying to get forwards. And it really says Sykora doesn't have much in the tank if he is looked over.

Part of me wants this to happen.

Would be interesting. Something like the Redden deal, why the hell not? Would be better than having Barch and Janssen as regulars.
