He deserves it. Who gets the "A"?

Timonen is associate captain. Hartnell and Briere are the alternates.

Timonen gets one and Hartnell and Briere are splitting the other.

Yeah buddy! Everyone knew it was Giroux's team. He's the heart and soul.

"In addition, Holmgren announced that Kimmo Timonen will serve as associate captain, while Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere will serve as alternate captains."

How does an associate captain differ from an alternate?

Seems like it just means he'll ALWAYS have the A and the other two will rotate.

Well deserved. He was the leader of the team regardless anyway.

Hopefully he stays healthy and stays a Flyer.

Leave it to the flyers to create a new leadership position.

Now get Bryz to play like he did in the last half of the season and go win the friggin' Cup already! I'm a Habs fan and I'd still love to see this.

So Pronger's retirement is a done deal?

I can't believe it ended like that. Reminds me of Al MacInnis.

Wow, wonder what's going to happen to Claude.

The last Flyers captains hadn't fared too well.

All in good fun.

Well, I doubt he plays again. But it wouldn't surprise me if he's just on LTIR for the remainder of his contract.

They did that with Mike Rathje.

I loved Sanguinetti at the time so I can't even complain about that one.

A bad pick is one thing. Not being able to ***** about it is torture

Yeah it sucks, but while hes off the ice he's been working with the front office scouting players, making recommendations, etc.
As long as he has a healthy life then its a win for him no matter how he went out.

For the unawares, Giroux has essentially been the de facto captain of the team the past year since Pronger went down. Pretty much everyone, players, media and front office, have been saying that it's his team and he's the leader.

Most of us on the Flyers board could see it coming with reading the quotes.

It was just a matter of time.

He's such a competitive player. Hates to lose, and is a hell of a player to boot.
