Didn't know Couture had so little penalties. I could see Campbell and Moulson getting nominated again (Campbell winning again).

Should be Torres. Has as many pts as PIM and hasn't been suspended this season.

Datsyuk because the NHL doesn't know about the Sharks.

Couture likely doesn't have enough points.

If they go by history, Datsyuk and St. Louis are frontrunners. If they want to go with new guys, Kane and Moulson.

I'd say Kane is the front runner, and a lock if he manages to keep his pims under 10.

I'll gag if it is Kane after the taxi driver incident. That alone should preclude him from ever receiving the Lady Byng.

don't they use a formula: rank the players by TOI/PIM then eliminate the candidates that aren't top 15 in scoring?

Just because you don't take penalties doesn't make you soft.

First I've heard about this trophy and honestly, I thought "Lady Byng" was slang and something of a joke in the locker room. However, searching the internet it seems to be true. If I was a NHL pro, this is one trophy I'd think last of winning.

I think Pavel Datsyuk and St Louis would shake their heads sadly at this post. Convince yourself that they are "soft" whatever that means. But sure *&^% sportsmanship on and off the ice!!!!

most penalties are taken through laziness.

tripping, hooking, slashing.

boarding, roughing, kneeing are all cheap penalties that dont make you "not" soft. rabbit punches after a play is a cheap shot in my eyes. running a guy from behind is cheap, and kneeing is ****ing stupid.

It's weird to know that moulson has more 30 goal seasons than Kane. Hell, couture has more 30 goal seasons too.

There is something about having the word "Lady" in the trophy name that just does not have a good ring to it for the NHL. I've never expressed any belief that Datsyuk or the Blues are soft. You are the only one who brought that up.

true, but cannot really change it considering it was donated by the governer generals wife back in 1925, the husband was also a vimy ridge war hero.

Usually in an 82 game season they look for PPG players who have under like 20 PIM's.

Seems like the frontrunners this year would be

1. Patrick Kane
2. Matt Moulson
3. Logan Couture (though I'm not sure he has enough points)
