Florida is like 90% MacKinnon. But you guys are tanking so much better than us

Damn.

Wonder who Colorado wants? I'd make a similar deal with them, and take Barkov at 3rd overall.

However, I do realize taking Jones is the smart thing to do.

As for tanking, we might be calling up ECHL players by Wednesday afternoon, if nobody's left to play...

Depends on how you view some of the other defensemen in this draft aka Hagg,Zadorov,Pulock,Ristolainen

Fairly certain that they would take Jones as they have Landeskog, Duchene, and Statsny plus O'Reilly and Parenteau in their forward ranks but they only have Erik Johnson as their most notable defenceman IIRC.

1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 5, 7.

Really looking forward to this potenitially franchise defining day! Lots of high picks, lots of great young prospects. Hopefully we can try and make a deal at the draft for a 2nd too.

1. After some thought, I absolutely without a doubt want Seth Jones. I hope we land the first overall pick, and take him. He has captain written all over him, and would be the perfect building block for years to come.

2.(15-20) Mantha, Domi, Risto,

3.(25-30) Horvat, Petan

Petan is my guy at 28th/30th overall. Undersized yes, but he puts of crazy points.

On Colorado, they take Jones 100 times out of 100 if they get the chance. They are already very skilled up front, with Jones and EJ on the blueline, they have basically every position covered, new Coach next year and they are a playoff team.

Where is Domi projected to go in the draft? I would not be opposed to drafting him at all.

Jason Dickinson is a guy I'd like to get with our third pick. He's ranked all over the place but I think he'd be a great pick late in the first

I take a pass on Petan. He is to small to project as a center at the NHL level and with smaller players in Baertschi and Guadreau already on the LW, I think we should take shot somewhere else.

With the St. Louis pick which I predict to be in the 18-22 range I like the following players

JOSHUA MORRISSEY
RASMUS RISTOLAINEN
ALEXANDER WENNBERG
CURTIS LAZAR

With the Pittsburgh selection which I predict to be in the 26-30 range I like the following players

IAN MCCOSHEN
ANTHONY MANTHA
RYAN HARTMAN
FREDERIK GAUTHIER

I fully agree. A solid guy we can build around on D.

For me it would be

1) Jones
2) Domi
3) Petan

I honestly want to see Feaster get Burakowsky with the Pittsburgh pick. A second line of Hanowski-Jankowski-Burakowsky would be hillarious. Not to mention that it would completely destroy Rob Kerr.

I think Gauthier will go before 25, and I'd take him with the St. Louis pick.

It's definitely possibly. I am not sure he has the offensive upside to warrant being selected as high as 15th, but I would not be overly upset I suppose if he was selected in that range. He fits right in there with Lazar for sure I think.

I don't think Flames have the juice to get dead last.
I think Colorado is purposely being terrible, and I think Florida will probably have less points, however, there's a good chance that they start getting a bit better in the next dozen games or so.

My feeling is picking 3rd; which is fine by me. Best case scenario is that they end up 2nd last. Avs and Florida will both jump to pick Jones, which although he'd look good in Calgary, I can live if he's not the pick we get.

3rd will give a chance at Mac, but most likely everything's pointing towards Barkov. My dream draft scenario is a trade down using the pens/st.Louis pick; but I don't think it'll happen.

2-3: Mackinnon(2) or Barkov (3)
15-18: Frederik Gauthier, Anthony Mantha or anyone who might slip (a la TT last year)
25-30: Mirco Mueller (please, please, please slip!), Jacob De La Rose, Robert Hagg

Every single one of these picks brings Calgary closer to being a competitive team. Although some of the later guys will need to develop, guys like Gauthier have that ability to be mega high end in 3-5 years. Also, big boys, everyone except Mac is +6'2''. A good way to go in my opinion.

I'm very iffy on drafting Jones 1st overall. Erik Johnson had basically the exact same scouting report, EJ isn't exactly a franchise guy.. Would prefer Mack or Barkov..

I want MacKinnon, Barkov, or Drouin, I would be okay with Jones too if necessary.

Sarcasm? I just don't trust drafting a defenseman that high? They're harder to project, look at Hedman too. I want the high profile scorer, than go for a dman later in the first. Just not as high on Jones as most, is that enough "logic" for you?

Petan has unreal skill if we can get him at 29/30 I would do it.

My list is of potential guys I would target are

Our pick (#2-#4)
Barkov/Mackinnon - We have to learn from the past and that should be that a #1 center is a must these guys can do it.

STL(#16-#20)
Hagg - Could be a real solid #2 defenseman that would go well with Brodie
Erne - Reminds me alot of Giroux just unreal skill and hasn't quiet put it together could be deadly with JG or Sven
Mantha - Big physically dominating LWer who could make Glencross look like crap
Gauthier - Huge centerman projects to be a great #2 guy and would fit nicely behind Barkov/Mickinnon

Pitt(#26-#30)
Bowey - Potential top 4 defenseman that could really help us fill out the backend
Mueller - Another big physical defenseman could be our new version of Regehr
Petan - On the small side and will most likely be moved to the wing but watching him you can see the skill reminds me alot of JG
Klimchuk - Not big, not small, not extremely gifted but could be a solid #2 center and offers us yet another option at center

If I had it my way
Our pick- Barkov
STL - Hagg
Pitt - Mueller/Bowey

We get a big #1 center, a big potential top 2 defenseman, and another potential top 4 defenseman.

Injuries also played a big part in Johnson's development. I do agree that it is a risk, but if he pans out we are set on the blue-line.
