Very true. There are several NHL clubs that are in much greater need defensively.

Yet he hasn't won a cup yet either.

Already has his money worth exploring.....

He can be signed to a cheap one year deal, but there's not much room for him unless he is willing to be a 7th D. Maybe share time with Hamilton, if he struggles.

Good veteran D though.

Per TSN, Redden has signed with the Blues.

Not really, St. Louis plays a lot of tight checking low scoring games, when the going gets tough and the play gets physical he's going to be a liability for them, just watch.

He might also just be there as insurance policy in case someone gets hurt, don't cost the Blues much with that cap hit compared to trading for someone at the deadline and over paying

Exactly, Hitchcock isn't going to feed him 20mins a night. In the right situation, with solid insulation from Hitch, Redden won't hurt the Blues, strictly an insurance signing

As soon as this guy hits the ice he is going to be a liability, Hitch isn't going to like what he sees. Anyways I am just thankful he didn't end up in Boston, everybody I know here in Ottawa would have had a field day at my expense, and I'm talking Sens, Habs and Leaf fans, none of whom wanted anything to do with Redden.

If it was a low risk to have Wedden on a 48 game schedule, why isn't it a low risk to have Hamilton on a 48 games schedule with easing him into the lineup with Joe Thornton entry type minutes?

This season is going to be an asterix now matter how you look at it, give it to the kid to develop. So far so good....

Seems like a pretty low risk - high reward option to me...

Thoughts?
I said it here first and back then wouldn't have even costed a 7th!!

There was off ice stuff that probably caused that but today with his age he might still look it.
