Given the log jam at forward currently

Vanek-Hodgson-Pomniville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-Grigerenko-Ott
Gerbe-Hecht-Scott
McCormick, Ellis (14)

Myers-Sekera
Sulzer-Ehrhoff
Regehr-Leopold
Weber, Brennan
(8)

Miller
Enroth

So, we're at a roster of 24. If Grigerenko stays a decision has to be made concerning the extra players. If we were to go after O'Reilly, we'd have to package 2 Players. Brennan is an obvious choice, but really more of a throw in at this point.

Brennan+Stafford+a pick for O'Reilly

We are creating a hole on RW by trading Stafford, is it worth it by adding O'Reilly in exchange?

What about Stastny?

If we agree that Colorado has no reason to trade O'reilly... then what about Stastny as a stop gap solution?

He's got another year left... could we eat that contract to assist Colorado in salary space to sign Oreilly?

Give them some decent pieces, maybe Brennan and Adam? I don't even know what the trade value is.

Wouldn't mind taking a chance on Stastny, not sure what his trade value is now either given his puzzling drop in production over the last couple of years..could be one of those guys that needs a change of scenery.

If we can do it without giving up ennis/hodgson it would be the perfect bridge to the Grigs/CoHo/Enzo model but at what price and can we afford his salary on the books? We would have to let him walk to re-sign vanek and pommers which is fine but it handicaps us for this upcoming free agent market

I wouldn't give up equal or high value for Stastny at this point. I would look at it similar to the Regehr deal, where we give up some decent asset (butler), but the taking of the stastny contract has to have some negative value in this lower cap world (6.6 this year and next)

I wouldn't mind trading Ennis for Statsny.

I would think a team like COL wouldn't mind eating a portion of that contract with the new CBA, a Stastny at 4.5-5 per has alot of value imo

They have plenty of cap room already. Signing O'Reilly doesn't have to do with trying to squeeze him in, it's about signing him at what they feel is his value. Therefore, I doubt taking Stastny for cap space means much to them.

I would... it's just not good asset management to give up 4 more years of team control of Ennis, for 2 years of Stastny

V-H-P
Ennis-Stastny-Stafford
Foligno-Grigorenko-Ott

It's a spending issue... not a cap issue

Perfect.
Or even a shutdown line of:
Foligno-Stastny-Ott
With an easy minutes line of:
Ennis-Grigs-Stafford

Weiss proposal in 3...2...1

I find it funny that we're already back to the same old names from a year ago after only 5 games. sure it'd be nice, but why do these teams move any of these players for Buffalos spare parts again?

I am also not a fan of acquiring Stastny for Ennis. Makes the Sabres even slower.

Can you please include the sarcasm emoticon if sarcasm is intended... because I can't tell if you misunderstood me... or not.

In regards to "why would a team move a center for spare parts".... i mentioned that Buffalo in fact moved a center for spare parts...

An offersheet of 5.0 - 6.7 million per year would only cost one 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick?

Let's offersheet O'reilly?

We can live without a few picks, and could certainly replace most of them as we continue to purge the old core.

7 yrs / 38.5 million / 5.5 per

Why not, avs probably match but hey there's no harm in trying. I'd even go 7/40 just to up our odds a little bit
