Or scratch Peluso after all, throw in Machacek and have MTS.

Huh, all these reports that he actually has skill have made me pretty eager to see what he can do. As I said, his stats didn't scream out 'Skill' exactly, but then again, I completely forgot that he had played defense in the AHL too.

Then again, the last guy this franchise had that played both RW and D was Christoph Schubert...

I won't be shocked if Thorburn is placed on waivers. Surprised maybe, shocked, no. There will be lots of guys like him available this week.

I like the pick-up.

Great. Remind all the guys what they've got waiting for them at home.

I am home. Why aren't you home at 12:17? You are making your own mess.

Peluso six years younger than Thorburn, supposed to a pretty good skater, no NHL experience. Really don't think Thorburn would be a hard guy to beat out.

Anthony Peluso, meet Mark Scheifele. Your task will be to attempt to keep up with him, to create space, and to destroy anyone that messes with him. Are you up to the task?

I liked Schubert, very capable 6/7 dman for the Thrashers that year we got him off waivers.

Not a big fan of the Peluso pickup. But really it's not a big deal if he doesn't work out since we did not give up any assets to get him.

I see us putting him right back on waivers by next month and STL claims him. Just like the MacLean deal at the start of last season.

Poor Anthony, he'll be looking for the guy that laid out Scheif every time the kid trips on the blueline.

This says a lot to me. Gary Roberts works magic, and is probably the reason why this guy was considered an enforcer but now more of a 4th liner with enforcer capabilities.

Another thing that's pushed me to the calm was Noel's comments on the guy:
He can play minutes; I don't want a 2-3 minute guy.
I don't necessarily have data to back this up, but my general opinion is that the 2-3 minute guys are rarely playing in the AHL at 23 years old.

The pure goons in the AHL are all older and more experienced. It is not a good place for a young goon to learn his craft.

I think most 23 year old guys trying to fashion a career out of 5 shift games are still in the ECHL or lower.

Dont forget this is the same Organization that found guys like Rypien and Burrows. Two guys that were thought to be one dimensional and turned them into NHL regulars

A Burrows 2.0 would be amazing.

It isn't likely, but definitely a huge huge plus if it happens.

Peluso seems to be the tough SOB that we definitely need.

I would prefer Kane, Ladd, old man Jokinen, Bogo or Stuart on the ice rather than fighting to defend a teammate.

Last year, Glass was a team leader in hits and fights. He was also a team leader on and off the ice. We made the mistake of letting him go via free agency. It is OBVIOUS that Noel and Chevy believe we lack toughness. Making a waiver claim this late should indicate that.

So experts - please stop asking if this guy can skate for goodness sakes. I'm pretty certain the man can skate. Will he have Selanne speed? I doubt it but you're all hating on a guy before you've even seen him. The worst part of the hating is that Peluso cost the organization nothing! He was a waiver wire pickup we could release anytime. Please stop.

I do smile every post I see that says Thorburn might get dealt. Be secure knowing that he will not be dealt. He has poor scoring stats, doesn't hit and doesn't fight well so he'd be sent back to the AHL or waived. Traded to TOR in a pkg for JVR? Sure, in NHL 2K13. I can appreciate loyal fans but really, come on - you think a team would trade something for him? He's a 4th line player making nearly 900K a year. Peluso is younger (23) and brings toughness and enforcer ability making 300K less.

Made me think of one of those awful Oil change episodes where Peckham (I think), was saying, "Don't touch the kids."

I suggested Thor for PK. I was dead serious though. Dead serious. Dead. Dead. Died.

Both of those goals indicate that he's got pretty good hands. I know it's only two goals, but he certainly doesn't look lost out there.

Being such a young guy, and knowing our organization, I think that chevy must see some untapped potential. I look forward to seeing what he's got and how he can improve under the wing of an organization who likes to develop talent.

no doubt , if he rides shotgun with Scheifele and takes it upon himself to drop the mitts every time Mark gets knocked down, he might win the league PIM race for the whole year in the 5 games Mark probably plays here

actually, I'd love to see Scheif stick and stay, but he definitely needs to get a tad stronger on the blades
