Can't wait until the day after the deadline when we roll out a D of Johnson, Wilson, Elliott, Barrie, Pock and Bordeleau.

Is this not just because of Palushaj?

He took the roster spot that was vacated when Wilson went on IR.

BUT then again, Lots of rumors swirling today with Oreilly involved, and many of us did agree that this 5 day break could be when we see management make a move if they feel its necessary. The season is still really young and were by no means out of anything yet. Maybe now's the time we make our move and start playing playoff race hockey from here on out.

I mean after all, Ecklund has an Oreilly/MTL(E4) on his page right now.

If Landy, Downie, and Wilson stay on the IR, that would leave them with only 22 players instead of 23. No need to send down a career minor leaguer to get playing time, unless they are trying to save a few bucks.

Now, sending down Barrie on the other hand would make a lot of sense. I have no idea why Sacco is so comfortable keeping Barrie's ass in the stands rather than getting playing time with Erie and working on his game. He's not learning anything at this point about how to be a professional that he hasn't already absorbed.

I approve of Sacco's handling of Barrie. He knows the AVs can't develop D talent so he's not sending him down the AHL to be screwed over there. He also knows he sucks as a coach so instead of allowing him to pick up bad habits during games he's keeping him in the press box. He's really protecting Barrie as far as I'm concerned.

Haha ahh I get it. He's protecting Barrie from himself, and the Avs organization from bringing him down. Smart.

Thomas has a cap hit and no salary. Exactly what Islanders look for in a player.

Kroenke and the Avs aren't looking too good lately but Wang and the Islanders are a complete joke. What a cheap ass.

Yep, and they can toll his contract as long as they want. A free $5m cap hit for eternity!

I'm confused...were the Isles actually below the floor? Or will they be when contracts expire after this season?

I think it was possible that Visnovsky's contract wouldn't count against the cap, or they are planning to trade some salaried people before the season is out.

With the upcoming move to Brooklyn, I doubt they're gonna jettison players.

The Isles are actually pretty close. If they could somehow convince Thomas to play they'd definitely make some noise this season.

Yeah, if they want to start selling at the deadline or even sooner, Thomas' salary will be able to keep them above the floor.

I think they are afraid Visnovsky will bolt and want to be able to suspend him without ending up below the cap floor.

Okay, that makes sense, though if Visnovsky fails to report at THIS point I don't think any team will want him.

Penner: Probably will be traded
Whitney: Could be traded, but with Edmonton's defense core don't understand it.
Goligoski: Probably to send him a message
Boyle: Trade or send him a message
Kovalev: I would be surprised to see him traded.
Granlund: Rookie year and sometimes they get scratched.

He broke the timonen signing earlier this week too. He's been pretty solid lately. Ever since his lockout reporting actually.

Only guy on that list I'd want is Goligoski aside from Granlund which obv isnt gonna happen, about Boyle I think i saw Tortorella quotes earlier saying it was to send him a message, and that he hopes its the last time he has to.

I'd be ok with O'Brien for Goligoski. Basically a cap dump for Dallas if they don't have faith in him and a gamble for Avs that Goligoski could make the most of the opportunities he'd surely get here.

If O'Reilly is really gone, Boyle wouldn't be a bad pickup. Good PK guy, and actually brings some size to the forward core.
