That still doesn't make sense.

Other teams are willing to offer better than Hodgson (Leaf fans would offer Gardiner off the top of my head) and even add to that package, and we wouldn't be looking to get anything else back, let alone two first orund picks.

That offer is out to lunch, you may as well say that Anaheim should trade Getzlaf and two 1st for Grabovski and a 2nd.

I wont comment on the fairness of the deal or whatever but on what planet is Subban not your #1? He is better than anyone Philly has.

I will hate myself in the morning, but it is a deal I would honestly consider. I love Subban and want to sign him forever, but this is a fair value kind of deal. Simmonds is exactly the kind of player we need for our 2nd line wing.

Not bad if the leafs are going for a full youth movement and Frattin can step in where JVR would play.

Gardiner, Grabovski, Frattin, Conditional 2013 1st (becomes 2nd if Leafs don't make the playoffs) for Benn?

Huge overpay.

Personally I like ROR more than Benn, and I think he would take less to acquire.

Well as a Flyer fan, again it would pain me to lose Simmonds but this trade is feasible for both sides....

If Benn was available (he wont be, but just for fun.)

Flames desperately need a #1. There are very few players I would part with Bartschi for, but Benn is one of them.

Flames:

Bartschi, Seiloff, 2nd or Granlund

For:

Benn, Glennie

Close?

Timonen is a better defenseman than Suban is currently. He's just getting up their in age. Subban is definitely next up though right before Coburn. The only reason he wrote it out like that is because Timonen and Schenn are going to probably be a pairing the flyers want.

No, you can take Glennie for anything though.

It would probably take...

Granlund+ for Benn
Dumba+ for Subban

Probably wouldn't do either, though.

So, Subban for Despres, Harrington, and a 1st?

Pens have the cap space to handle it this year and can move/buy out Martin after the season to handle it next year. The defense definitely could use him.

BUT, your Habs aren't getting anyone who can make an immediate impact beyond Despres. Then again, I suppose he'd make more of an impact than nobody, which is what you're dealing with now.

But either way I dont think many Pens fans will want to move Despres, looks like he is going to start the year on the top pairing with Letang.
Penguins have cap space right now for to do this deal and still have enough space to add about 7-8M in prorated salary at the deadline. And, I think more Pens fans than not would be willing to move Despres in a deal for Subban.

Oilers can't trade Gagner. It would bring an end to all Oilers proposals on this board.

interesting but habs would need an NHL right D or at least someone close to NHL ready more than a low first

Schenn would do but I doubt Philly wants to break the Schenns

Unless Schenns for PK

O'k, Pens offer Despres, Harrington, and a 1st. How does that work?

Then again, without Gagner AND Hemsky, how do you plan to propose a deal for Stamkos?

I was gonna begin by saying i find it odd that no team in the nhl attempts to improve their line-up with a Benn, Subban, O'rielly etc. It is not really odd but does anyone else get the feeling that it's just not gonna happen. I would throw 7.5 for 8 years at Benn to force their hand for a deal on Subban. If you think it's to much, consider he will be our #1 center competing against Crosby/Malkin 8.7 per, Stamkos 8.0, Richards 12 , Nash 7,6, Stall 8.5, Kovalchuk 11.0, Spezza 8.0, Ovechkin 9.0, Giroux ?.

By adding MPS and a 2nd. Try to keep up please. But really I wouldn't do that deal as an Oilers fan, we have our goal scorer on the 2nd line (Yakupov) and there is no chance that Stamkos slots ahead of RNH on 1st / pp. Just doesn't make sense to give up that much for what would be our third line center.

Besides, we already have yakupov to hang around the circle and wait for one timers.

2nd line center, you wouldn't have Gagner. You're absolutely right, he belongs on the 3rd though.

As a Toronto fan, I gladly trade any three of these things for Jamie Benn:

Nazem Kadri
Tyler Biggs
MacArthur
Kulemin
Bozak
Franson
2nd round pick.

Whatever floats the Dalls boat from that group could be had. Benn is a player and a half and he's got his whole career ahead of him. I could probably be persuaded to trade our first round pickk along with one other asset from that list as well, but would prefer to keep it. I wouldn't let it be a deal breaker though, Benn is worth it.
