Could Hanifin fall to the Flyers at #7?

After decades of the Flyers failing to develop homegrown quality defensemen, I'm in favor of continuing to draft defensemen with a goal of finding a true #1. We have a good prospect pool but none are a sure #1's. While the 2015 draft is obviously not a sure thing either, I'd like the flyers to draft one of Werenski, Provorov, or Hanifin. Should I consider Hanifin the consensus best of the 3 or are they all close? Would Edmonton possibly choose a defenseman other than Hanifin? Are there other teams in the Number 3 through 6 slot that would NOT pass on Hanifin if available? Maybe I should not care since an elite level prospect will be there @#7 (Maybe #8).

bigger chance of Marner falling to the Flyers than Hanifin. Can't see him falling past 4.

We here it all the time, no way this guy will fall or drop but every year there are players that fall and with the latest reports from Button seems like he is not that high on his potential. Other GM's could be feeling the same way.

Depending on who wins the lottery, I think EDM takes him. If EDM doesn't take him, I could see Toronto passing on him and picking whoever of Marner or Strome that EDM doesn't pick though. But, if by some slim chance he is there at #5, I'd be shocked if the Canes didn't nab him (if they maintain the #5 pick). Faulk, Hannifin, Fleury, McKeown and Murphy could be an awesome blueline down the road, with Faulk being the old man at only 23.

That said, who knows for sure? Nobody thought Fowler would drop out of the top 5 in 2010. I still think the chances of him going past 5th pick are slim though.

He won't fall to Philly...but 1 of Werenski or Provorov could.

I'd be pretty shocked, but it's not impossible.

There's at least a decent number of people that think Provorov =/> Hanifin, it's a minority, but it's not an extreme minority. And similarly some people think Marner/Strome have risen dramatically over the past ~1-2 months and could be pushing Hanifin, especially if they fit team needs better.

Regardless, Philly will get a good prospect. If they REALLY want a dman, one of Hanifin, Provorov, or Werenski will be all but guaranteed to be available.

Because Fowler fell the way the he did I don't see GM's making the same mistake again.

I just don't see how Oilers out of all team pass on him. They need a D at his caliber in the worse possible way. Leafs definitely won't pass on him, especially after seeing how Reilley panning out. The very thought of Reilley, Hanifin makes me drool

If HFBoards posters were drafting, yes.

In reality I think it's quite unlikely, though never impossible I suppose. I think we forget (or don't quite realize) that many or most of the highly qualified scouts see Hanifin as a really special player- perhaps not that far off Eichel. For fans, I think he doesn't have a 'wow' factor so we don't get excited about picking him.

It's true that some prospects tumble lower than expected, but I think Hanifin not likely to be one of those.

If Craig Button controlled the first six selections-then yes.

No way we take him at 1, you gotta believe!!!. However I doubt he will be there at 7 or 8. But with all these stud forwards there and with scoring in the NHL becoming a premium you never know how things will shake out. That being said the Flyers are going to stock their pipeline with some serious prospects with all these picks Ron has stockpiled. Should make for some fun times for us indeed.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that one of them will be on the board.

Isn't that the truth. Button, like Milbury, talk a good game, and that is it.

Fowler fell as a consensus 4 and fantastic skater I think that would be a close comparison.

Though teams could look at that and make sure that doesn't happen again as I think Ryan Johansen is the only guy he falls past again.

Yes it is possible, but it is very highly unlikely.
