I'm thinking there might be a market for a "Honk If Gordon Gee Apologized To You" bumper sticker.
That'd be a nice gesture, but how would all us SEC types be able to honk if we can't read it?

Guess Pitino had time to comment between affairs.

Well, I ain't gonna say any names, but one coach told me that since I'm the No. 1 player, I'm gonna get to meet Michael Jackson. I said, "Isn't he already dead?" The coach goes, "Well, all right, you can meet Tito." I was like, all right. OK, I'm done.

It was crazy, but it is what it is.

If you check the link he really has a lot of insight about the situation

Quote:
"We've been the No. 1 grade point average in the Big East the past three years," Pitino said. "Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. ... Ignorance is not just curtailed to coaches or other people, it's curtailed to presidents as well. President Gee is obviously trying to crack jokes and denigrate other people, and in Louisville -- I can't speak for Kentucky; I'll let John (Calipari) speak for them -- we don't take kindly to those comments and we're very insulted by it. And when people have to make jokes and denigrate others to get laughter, that means they're truly ignorant of the facts, and certainly he is ignorant of the facts. Really bothered by it."

Pitino isn't the only one, but he's one of the few coaches who has the stature to say something -- and is seldom afraid to do so. Also note this being an uncommon instance where he and rival Calipari can find common ground and a common enemy of sorts.

The Gee story is so funny because Gee is a pompous clown dealing with a lot of other pompous clowns. When Bret Bielema releases statements stressing his commitment to the highest levels of integrity, it's bordering on satire.

Gee was largely controversial and a firestorm for criticism during his tenure at Ohio. But he did raise money. So there's that.

@richarddeitsch 3:21 PM
With Ohio State president Gordon Gee announcing plans to retire, I look forward to Rutgers hiring him as its new AD.

Little surprised reddit is so somber towards this

http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments...retire/cac4r48

Quote:
Gotta love how OSU fans have been downvoted here for saying it too. Most of the people here only heard about him either recently or through the "little sisters of the poor" comments. He's actually done a wonderful job as the president of the university. Donors loved him, alums loved him, students loved him, etc. He did a great job at bringing in money for the university and making everyone happy at the same time. He was a pleasure to meet in person and I'm really gonna miss him
I'm going to mention this again, that squabbling over academics when pretty much every college that has a big athletics program has fine academics, is just silly. There is nothing to be ashamed of going to Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan, Northwestern, etc, to study. They are all good schools.

I've done more reading on Reddit over this issue. Apparently Gee helped transform OSU academics into some of the best in the state. So good for him. Michigan bias aside, it is always good to have a school live up to the stringent academic requirements of the Big Ten.

School is going to miss him dearly. What's going to hurt the most is the students. No one goes all out for Student Intrests quite like him. He was everything to him, he was a students president. He makes one ****ing religious joke and ba hum bug happens. The president of Alabama makes racist comments and nothing. ****ing pissed Gee is leaving Ohio State.

''The Urban Meyer thing was just funny to me. He came to my school a week after I told his assistant that I wasn't even interested in them. I told him no to his face, and it's got to be one of the top five reactions of someone ever. His facial expression was just so funny. My coach was tearing up and had to go in his office to laugh...Like the state of shock where the guy has literally never been told no in his life. It literally looked like a kid the first time you tell him 'no, you can't do something.' It looked like he was a baby about to cry. It was so funny.''

Speaking of faces that make you laugh, the kid has a lot of room to talk.

Ohio State favored in every game by at least 16 points except vs. Wisc (-11), at Mich (-6) & at NWern (-8) by Golden Nugget

Latest rumor I'm hearing is Charles Sims (Houston's RB) is about to pull a Clint Trickett and take his talents to Morgantown.

Guy's run for 2370 yards and caught for a bit over 1700 more in his 3 years with Houston.

Still a chance he opts to enter the NFL's supplemental draft instead.

Some clowns vandalized Howard's Rock. Smh.

No respect these days. I don't particularly like Clemson, I've been partisan to USC in the past, but this vandalism of a tradition sickens me.

No one cares about Clemson's pet rock. It's sad that rubbing a freaking rock is supposed to be some great tradition. I highly doubt it was a Gamecock fan who stole it anyway. It was probably some Walmart jort wearing Clemson fan who wanted a souvenir, a Gamecock fan would have painted it garnet or took the whole thing altogether.

Why can't everyone just be normal, like the folk in West Virginia and just burn couches?
