Playoff Beards (and other traditions)

One of the cool things about hockey besides playing for the Cup, is the beards the players grow and the quirky things fans do. I love me football, and baseball, but hockey is just can't be beat. Its a cult and its fans have the greatest percentage of passion and love of their sport as any.

Who's doing what? I'm going beard and cheeseburgers before every game....anyone else got something planned.

I'm expecting a good month growth before we meet the bleeping flightless loathesome birds

Full beard is already in effect, so I may have to come up with something else...

Another sad thing I do. lol

There is a company that hangs a huge Bruins banner on the side of their building that you can see from the highway. I drive by it on the way to and from work and every time I drive by on game day I scream how many more wins we need to win a series.

Worked two years ago.

I'll probably post "Clode" on the GDTs and text "Clode" to my friends on game days.

I tried the playoff beard thing in 2011 but after 21 years in the military having not grown facial hair it was actually so irritating after about 2 weeks I had to shave it off. Last year I didn't even bother trying. Maybe I'll not trim my nose hair and grow a playoff nosestache.

I shave my head, cause I'm edgy and unique.

Actually it's because lice is rampant in my daughters school and my head itched thinking about it. No hair, no problem.

No beard for me. Professionally I've got to keep it under control.

In 2010, me and my two sons talk a couple hours before the game starts and we plan what Bruins swag we're gonna wear for that game. It's not really a superstition because it's varied in it's effectiveness, but it's something fun we do.

I haven't shaved since mid-Feb. Definitely keeping it for the playoffs.

Bruins snuggie. Even when we go late into the playoffs and its way too warm to be wearing.

I usually have a bit of scruff or thin beard. I shave the day after the regular season and let it go until the Bruins lose two in a row. Once this happens I will start to trim it. In 2011, by the time we won the cup I basically a way too long Roman Polak style beard with hideous sideburns.

New job since then and I may have some important client meetings coming up, so sadly I will have to keep it reasonably groomed this time around.

The other thing I do: When the Bruins win, I take off the clothes I was wearing during the game(boxers and socks included) and put it in a pile in the corner of my closet. I will thne wear this clothes for every game unless they lose 2 in a row, then I switch it out and start over.

In 2011, I wore the same black Bruins shirt, white Bruins jersey and ate a chicken quesadilla before every home game (no wonder I gained weight!) .

Not sure what I'll do this year. Definitely no quesadillas!

I grew a playoff beard for the first time when the Bruins won the Cup. Last year I was starting a new job, so I didn't want to give the wrong impression. This year the beard is here. Get the duck boats ready?

I love this post.

I can't grow a beard so I will think of something.

The year the B's won the cup I went to every home game (including Prague) but I have missed a couple this year so I will have to think of something else.

I always say to the guys I hang around with (before the games) "I hope the B's win tonight".

Playoff are usually an excuse for me to shave slightly less often, I went naked faced yesterday.

Hate playoff beards.

That said, I keep a nice beard all year long, trimming every week or so (never big at all, mostly just a shadow). Once I go more than a week without maintenance, it just looks to messy.

How could I forget the playoff nails?

http://twitpic.com/4q72l7

(I'm not doing them yet... at the moment. Depends on how tomorrow's game goes.)

I think this will be a playoff tradition addition...

I'm going to drink a lot of Bailey's and B&B (not together of course).

Not sure what I will do for the playoffs though....
