New York Islanders have a player bio page for Wade Redden...... #NHL#NYR http://islanders.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8462033

Isn't he just on there for a bio since he was drafted by them?

Somehow doubt the Islanders web designer would be the first to break the news.

Honestly did the Isles even have a training camp?

WPG claims James Wright.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
All other players on waivers yesterday, including CGY goalie Karlsson and Irving, have cleared.
@TSNBobMcKenzie

Only players on waivers today: McElhinney (CBJ), Butler (NJD), C Porter (STL).

Even though the leafs just resigned him (Cody Franson) it seems that the Leafs are in a numbers game on the back end with too many guys (8-9 bluliners left in camp) or risk losing to waivers. There is talk that Franson is drawing interest from the wings, wondering if he is a better solution here then Potter?

Maybe ship Potter out bring in Franson? Thoughts

CURRENT DEPTH CHART
Whitney
N.Schultz
Smid
Petry
J.Schult
Fistric
Potter
Peckham
Tuebert
Fedin

The problem with Franson is he needs to play, I don't see the fit here unless they decide that Fistric isn't going to be used lots.

Where does he fit in?

Whitney, Schultz, Petry....we have 3 good puck movers on our d-core with 3 stay-at-home guys Schultz, Smid, Fistric.

People looking to trade for a shut-down d-man probably forgot that we have Klefbom in the system who could very well be playing with the big boys next year if it wasn't for the injury.

Since we need more grit in the top 6, hre is my proposal

Gagner, Hemsky and Def prospect Marincin

for Benn (Dallas)

Oiler top 6

Eberle Benn Hall
Yak Hopkins Harti

that is prob a better playoff top 6 then what we have though we are giving up lots for it

Redden signs with the Blues.

800k. Additional 200k in incentives.

Franson is not the depth we're looking for.

I'm surprised that the Islanders didn't pick up Redden or Connolly.

The problem is 29 teams would likely be bidding if he were available, and that would never be a winning package.

Some team would offer 1 really elite prospect or piece and something else and beat our offer of a proven winger with injury issues, a potential 2C, and a solid defense prospect.

At least we have Smid.

(Not sold on Klefblom over here.)

Contract wise sure....and a lot of people had said its not much money, hes a #7 so theres no risk.

I really question where his head and character is at. Hes been riding the bus in the AHL for 2 years while collecting a massive paycheque. Does if even care about winning at this point? Our team is all about youth and speed. Hes 35 and who knows what health he is in.

Kruger and a lot of players have talked about the culture we are trying to create here. And Kruger especially is a motivator. So sure you could say Kruger might get the most out of him, but is it even worth focusing your time and effort on a #7 dman? The risk outweighs the value you might get out of him.

I agree....but I personally don't think Franson is a puck mover, or the Leafs are not using him correctly.

Was Faresjstad(sp) best D-man before the injuries. One of WJC best player. The best player at Oilers prospect camp. 6'4 205lbs+ that can skate. I have high hopes for Klefbom

What's the risk? He's making peanuts and would play a limited role on the bottom pairing. Put another way, would you rather have Redden or Potter?

My point is the risk you say is there isn't a risk at all. But it's all moot anyway, so NVM.

Rishaug was wondering if Preds would be interested in Peckham? I wonder if a Peckham for Taylor Beck Deal could be made? Me may have to add a 4th or something. But Beck could be a good project for a bottom six role, who could fill in 2nd line minutes incase of injury.
