He's about the same age as Dubnyk and pretty close to the same size. I think Bishop might even be bigger.

He's put up really good AHL numbers, but has only played like 20 games in the NHL.

I haven't seen him play much, but he's probably the best available back-up goalie right now and wouldn't cost much in a trade.

Give him a chance to sell you. I think he'll surprise.

Well, then your available options are Luongo (very unlikely) or Tim Thomas (he's insane. don't want him around the young guys).

Everyone else is not an upgrade over Dubnyk. I'm like everyone else here, I'm not sold on Dubnyk either, but there aren't a lot of options out there.

Not to sound like Captain Hindsight, but they probably should have made a bigger push for Halak a few years ago.

Hopefully Dubnyk proves us all wrong.

Interesting. Was that recent?

He wasn't bad last year, but he is getting old. I can't stand the guy though.

I'm glad that Rask is finally getting his opportunity. I've always liked him.

I could see it. They drafted Shane Prince and Cody Ceci. It's not really giving up important pieces from our side either.

I believe that tweet was in regards to Oklahoma City signing Jonathan Cheechoo and having another transaction in the works.

That would make more sense. In that case we need a lot of help on D. We will probably just bring in an AHL vet.

It can be done. Remember when Buffalo was a team of cream puffs? Well, there is one team that did something about it. All of a sudden the Sabres have a very nice mix of grit and toughness on that team. Of course Im more than likely going to be living on a colony on Mars by the time Tambo gets around to it. lol

Id trade Hemsky for Derek Dorsett in a heartbeat.

Tim Thomas would fit right in here in Alberta.

1) We didnt just sign him, we signed him last year when he was looking like a solid #5 Dman who can boost the PP.. We just signed Fistric because Potter and Peckham proved that they are just not good enough.

2) Potter would have been useful if we didnt have Schultz to man the point on first unit PP.. With Petry and J.Schultz in lineup and no PP time, Potter doesnt bring anything that Fitric cant.

My thought to merge thoughts together:

Ottawa asked for Potter (not Peckham, don't ask why, I don't make sense!) as the "centrepiece" in the Bishop trade. However, they want to see how good he is.

Be all and end all, Potter is being played to be shopped so we can acquire something. Maybe Potter + Martindale for Bishop?

EDIT: Operating under the assumption the management believes in two puck-moving replacements (Fedun and ... uh... Deck...) and two bruiser replacements (Peckman and Teubs)

It was either Tuesday or Wednesday last week, I think during the call-in period when fans were questioning our goaltending

Thanks, maybe there is something in this. Bishop could be a decent back up to Dubey.

Ottawa probably doesn't want Potter. They have enough offensive D (Wiercioch has played well enough to probably stick around)

Andre Benoit is the odd man out, and he's mainly offensive in Ottawa, so they'll likely go after a more veteran defensive D

I think it's simply that Potter has been here a while and is more familiar with the systems play.

I don't see the point in "showcasing" him right now. A couple of games at the start of the season isn't going to make teams forget about the atrocious season that Potter had last year.

Possibly, but I doubt that you sit a superior player just based on that especially when that player brings a much needed dimension to the team. .

You are not a Potter fan, neither am I although you seem to dislike him more than I do. That said I would hope that you could at least acknowledge that he had a pretty good run on the PP early in the season. Maybe Ottawa would like a 2nd unit guy behind Karlsson? I'm honestly not that familiar with their depth chart but I could see a team looking to add a guy like Potter, ffs Philly signed Foster and IMO Potter >>> Foster, at least the Foster that was here anyway.

I have a question. If whitney plays good, whats his market value. Id be stoked if they could get another 1 for this years or next draft. Im very intrigued by a WHL player named Jake Virtanen. He's a LW and id like to see him in Oilers silk.

Hall-RNH-Ebs
Virtanen-Gagner/???-Yakupov
Hartksy/Smyth-Horcoff-Hemsky (if not traded)
PRV-VV/Belanger- Jones
