Luongo? And we need guys down the middle that can pass the puck!

Definitley not a buyout. The cap still counts against them this year, they haveto pay it in full as well for this year. His contract expires in the summer. This is not a buyout. Interesting as well is his cap hit, or part of it, will still count if he is sent to the Marlies.

This is starting to look like the whole Kadri debacle was Burke blindly or just too loyal to Wilson, who didn't like the kid - for whatever excuse (lack of defensive capabilities). So Burke brings in the likes of Lombardi, Timmy C, Steckel, even guys like Rickard Wallin ... which created the illusion that Nazem wasen't ready...and we have to bring in more capable bodies to "fill the role(s)".

Gross. I wasen't impressed with Dave Nonis' tenure in Vancouver...but he's starting down the right path thus far.... He's getting rid of the dead weight.... I just hope he doesn't bring in dead weight. I think Carlyle and Nonis have a great relationship and hopefully Nonis will listen to Carlyle when it comes down to who should stay/go.

This makes no sense. You are basically saying that unproven NHLers will make the team better. No way.

That's actually a well balanced forward lineup (except for #1 C). Top 2 lines can score, and the bottom seems to be pretty good 2-way lines. If we get killed, it will be due to crappy defense and goaltending, or if more than one top 6 gets injured.

While I agree, it's entirely a matter of perspective. It doesn't neccessarily need to be a conspiracy as to why he was "held back", Burke/Wilson may have genuinely felt that Kadri was worse than those players (Wallin et al.). In which case, that's just asset management, which is their job.

His cap may still count if he's sent to the Marlies, but the Leafs only have so many roster spots they're allowed to fill and he was filling one. Waiving him frees up a roster spot and the cap isn't effected either way.

Yeah the same guy that he allowed Wilson to run out of town. The guy that in all likelihood wouldn't have re-signed with Burke - and you'd be looking trading Brett Lebda for 3.5M in Lombos salary LOL

That Franson yes.

I'm glad some of Burkes supporters are still outspoken - aren't too many of you around anymore - I wonder what happened to the 80% ???

I'm worried this means more Steckel in the line up.

So this leaves us with like 11 mil in cap space this season? There has to be some way to use all that space for something this season.

Depends if Kulemin plays like he did last year and if JVR is healthy or not. I have serious doubts on either of these. Our bottom 6 is awful.

Hmm... I think JVR/Kadri would be shifted over before Colborne would get a call up.

Bozak - Grabo - McClement - Steckel - Kadri - JVR

The above can all play C.

do not see a fit.. i just see him slowing down that line.. and if steckel is going to play as a starter.. which i dont really see it will be to his best ability and that will be winning faceoffs

There is no cap relief if Connolly is bought out or demoted. (Okay about 750k IIRC).

At 6'5" he'll always look slow. Big guys always look slow, they've got to make up for it with their reach and ability to protect the puck.
