If Toronto wants they can have Marty Reasoner to play for the Marlies

I think the only one of those waiver wire pickup that is really destined for the Island is Hickey. Both Aucoin and Finley are AHLers brought in for depth and to have some bodies for the start of the season sothey don't have to rush kids

I assume he goes back to the Marlies once Bailey returns?

He also thought it was a good idea to play Jay Beagle more than Nick Backstrom. His usage of players was one of his biggest weaknesses.

That said, good luck to Aucoin. He may not be PP1 material, but he's capable of being a decent NHL player.

I would have to agree with you. Hickey has a real chance to be a full time NHL D-man. Finley looks like at best he can be a #7 Nhl d-man/AHL call up. Keith Aucoin is a stop-gap filler for this season than back to AHL.

If Parenteau has a chance to be a NHL player, so does Keith Aucoin

DAMN YOU ISLANDERS!

I am not impressed!

One of the best AHLers and the guy can take a few shifts in the NHL in a pinch, and if given a real chance could probably be a regular. Was a quick favourite on the Marlies, and a personal favourite of mine for a while. You New Yorkers better appreciate him, or I swear there will be a price to pay!

Nope.
And to follow up to Paris in Flames' comment, the only consolation to knowing those four guys are gone is knowing that none of them were there last year when we had a solid year (the three young guys came end of season/playoffs, but the rest of the team earned everything else).

Kostka and Ranger our perfect compliments to our D, and I'm not worried there.
Goaltending has been dece.
But the Marlies better hope some one steps up and fills those holes on forward now. *cough*Ashton*cough*

I admit we're a little short on wrath.

But one day!

Seriously, Aucoin was great for the Marlies. Nice for him to get another shot in the NHL though if that is in fact the case.

Aucoin is a big reason the Marlies are where they are. Frattin, Kadri and Gardiner have all missed decent periods of time and the team was fine. Granted they obviously bolster the lineup but Aucoin is probably going to be a significant loss.

Add in Scrivens too, actually.

Isn't Aucoin getting a ridiculous amount to play in the AHL?

Yikes.
Bailey is out for another 1-3 weeks after getting his knee scoped.
Joensuu is out with a groin injury.I've read different timetables for his return.

I don't think the isles pickup Aucoin if not for the injuries.

And Snow has not given up on the relucatant Islander, Vis.
If Vis does come over in 2 more weeks, then either Hickey or Finley are gone.

Hamonic-MacDonald
Streit-Martinek
Carkner-Hickey

Exactly. If the isles open the season with 19 yr old Strome and gave him 4 line mins, fans and media would howl.

If they made 19 yr old Reinhart their #6/#7 d-man, we'd be reading how the NYI are rushing and ruining him.

Both have been demoted back to juniors today.

I believe he was given an amount of around $300-350k to be an AHL superstar.

There are guys making more down there, but those are guys on one way contracts so bad they cleared waivers (Redden etc)

I get that some of these moves are not rushing prospects, but if I am Snow I sure am glad Wang is my boss. I mean three waiver claims in a week which all pretty much have to make the roster in order to do it, says it all about how prepared you are. This one does surprise me given I expect some better forward options to hit the wire here shortly. Maybe Aucoin will finally stick though at the NHL level, he is an excellent AHL player.

So, Snow should have anticipated his 2nd line lw, Bailey, would injure his knee in Germany, then be out 2-4 weeks at the start of camp?

He should have realized months ago, that 3rd/4th liner Joensuu would have a groin injury coming into camp?

And I guess everyone should have realized after the Ducks/Isles trade was upheld in arbitration, after Vis assured the isles he'd play for them in the summer, that Vis would refuse to report in Jan.?

Wow... I guess he's going to play in the NHL this year. Pretty sure if the Islanders try to send him down he goes back on waivers.

I think the bigger point is the Isles have no NHL ready depth to step in for these three incidents. If the season was underway and this glut of players weren't available by the waiver wire, what were the Isles going to do?

You certainly can't foresee players getting hurt and players refusing to report, but you can at least be prepared from an organizational standpoint to have depth players come in and play.

Nino is 6th among AHL scoring leaders, with 19 goals, 17 assists.

Before Brock Nelson got hit in the jaw, suffering a break that would keep him out for 3-4 weeks, he was second in scoring for the ST. He came back just days before training camp opened.

I think most NYI fans were shocked that neither was invited to training camp.

From Snow's comments about Nino, it sounds like the isles want him getting top 6 mins and if he's are not getting top 6 mins on LI, he wants him getting those mins in the AHL.

Aucoin is not getting top 6 mins for the NYI. When Bailey/JJ return, he could be waiver bound again.

Finley and Hickey are fighting for the #6/#7 spot that fans expected Donovan to get. Instead he remains Bridgeport's #1 with De Haan's injury. If Vis comes over, one of Finley or Hickey gets waived in 2 weeks.
