My point was not that Snow is incapable of ever making good moves. All I was trying to say is that overall, like Burke, he is not a good GM at all.

Not saying he's great, but he was certainly better than Burke was in TOR.

Only to a certain extent, IIRC. The Leafs don't get first crack at him ahead of the 28 other teams but they do get to send him directly to the Marlies if certain circumstances occur. If the Isles end up waiving Aucoin (which I expect to happen in a few weeks when the team gets healthy), and Toronto is the ONLY team that ends up putting a claim in for him, they get to send him right to the Marlies, I know that much. Not sure what happens if more than one team puts in a claim besides Toronto and Toronto's awarded him (I'd assume he'd have to stay on the Leaf roster). However, I know the former is true. It happened with Brett MacLean and the Coyotes last year. The Leafs are not put at the front of the line just because they had Aucoin first.

Weird pickup, but Aucoin is simply to fill in for the injuries and make sure the Isles can ice a full roster, much, IMO, as Finley is. Of the three claims this week, I only expect Hickey to be a guy the Isles feel can be on the roster in the long-term. I fully expect both Aucoin and Finley to be returned to the Marlies and Amerks, respectively at some point in the next month or so, unless of course they end up playing so well the Islanders want to keep them. However, I don't see that happening. I do see that happening with Hickey though. Finley and Aucoin not so much. Finley is nothing more than a good AHL defenseman and possible seventh up in the NHL. Aucoin is an AHL superstar who has shown he can play some minimal NHL minutes and not look out of place. However, both these guys belong in the AHL and that's likely where they'll end up again in a couple weeks. Isles simply need them to ice a full roster. So Marlies fans need not worry about it, you'll have Aucoin back soon unless, he, at 34 years of age, proves too valuable for the Islanders not to keep around. All you guys have to do is pray the Marlies continue winning games while you wait for Aucoin to return. I'd put money on it that he'll be back, as I don't expect a 34-year-old AHL journeyman to light up the NHL at this point. Aucoin has been one of the best players in the AHL for a while and that's what he'll stay as.

Holy crap, the Islanders are claiming every friggin' d-man going through waivers All joking aside hopefully some of these guys become as successful as some of their forwards that they got in the recycle in and turned into solid NHLers.

Aucoin is a forward, it's not Adrian

I feel sorry for guys like K.Aucoin... way too good for the AHL but can't overcome the lack of size to contribute at the NHL level. This guys skill level is off the charts.

Burke also had the ability to spend to the cap, fill his Front Office with quality guys to help him and take on salary to improve the team.

Snow has to use bonus tricks to reach the floor, has a bare-bones Front Office, and can't take on any salary.

So to compare them isn't really fair. But in the same time, Snow has laid a pretty good foundation with a deep prospect pool. The Leafs don't have that.

So both teams have done squat the past 5 years, but at least the Isles have legit reason why (they're broke).

lol wut?

If I could choose one franchise to take over right now from top to bottom, the only reason I would even remotely consider the Islanders is Tavares. Outside of the prodigious talents of JT, I would take Toronto players as a slam dunk up and down the roster.

I mean for a supposedly good foundation and deep prospect pool you are taking our AHL waiver wire guys to play on your NHL team...

I agree.

The Sound Tigers new head coach is Pellerin, who coached for about 5 yrs in Manchester. Hickey told the media that he was gonna call and thank him because he's sure Pellerin, is the one who encouraged the isles to claim him.

Glad Aucoin will get a legit shot. He's an NHL talent.

Bailey is hurt. Out another 1-3 weeks, and instead of rushing Nino, theyre leaving him in bridgeport. Brock Nelson is amongst leading rookie scorers in the A. Strome is dominating in Niagara. Donovan, Reinhart, Mayfield, Pelech all look to join Hamonic and Macdonald on defense in the next few years with a bunch more that wont be able to find a spot.

instead of rushing them for a shortened season, snow did the right thing and just took your waived AHL superstar to fill in for Bailey. Thanks
