Blues.

More consistent forwards with much more experience. Even with RoR it isn't close enough where he would tip the scales. Blues are deeper IMO and Jaden Schwartz isn't even on the list.

No one would trade a potential 10 year captain and perenial allstar like Landeskog for a handful of solid 2nd and 3rd liners. Tarasenko is a nice prospect, no doubt, but I already know Landeskog is the real deal.

Nope, I stand by my statement. Guys like Landeskog don't come around very often and when you get one, you hang onto him at all costs.
I wouldn't trade Landeskog for any Blues forward straight up either but that's irrelevant if we're comparing the players right now.

The scary thing with the Avs is that they have 7 top 6 forwards (RoR can fill in on a top 6 role) even Hejduk can jump in the top 6 from time to time if anyone gets injured.
The Blues have 9.

The Blues are without a doubt the deeper group, and I think they're "better" as well.

3 of the Blues top 6 forwards missed significant time with McDonald(25g),Steen(43g) and Perron(57g) combining for only 125 games played last season. I think this has led quite a few people to assume they have some kind of popgun offense when they were just missing a serious chunk of their firepower up front. Now they're adding Tarasenko and most likely Schwartz as well.

I've seen a few people place a lot of emphasis on elite talent to the point of absurdity in this thread, but these aren't the Hawks we're talking about here. We're talking about the Avs who have a really nice group of centers, but simply aren't stacking up once wingers are factored in. And is this elite talent really so superior to what the Blues are bringing? What kind of PPG differences are we really looking at?

O'Reilly... Overrated?

Anyways, it's pretty even, but I think the Blues get the edge because Avs got such a god awful 4th line.

I really like Landeskog and Duchene but the Blues IMO still have a better and deeper group of forwards. St Louis for me

I mean, MacDonald, no, Perron, his career high is the same as Landeskogs, he is 24, and I feel Landeskog brings more to the table than he does, so no, I think Taresenko will be great, but I would not trade Landeskog for someone who has done nothing in the NHL, so no, Steen, no, Oshie, never broken 20 goals in his career, his career high in points is 4 more than Landeskog, and he is 26. No. Backes....he is an incredible player. Probably my favorite non Avalanche, but considering Landeskog is 19, was just named our captain, and his potential, I would not trade Landeskog for him.
I misunderstood what the poster said I though he said if the blues offered Backes,Tarasenko,Perron,& 3 more forwards he still wouldn't trade Landeskog. Reading comprehension was nowhere to be found on my end, sorry.

Yeah, I thought he meant trading 6 Blues players for Landeskog. My bad too.

The Avs top 3 is better, beyond that it's easily the Blues.

Sorry if I don't feel bad about voting in a trivial HFBoards poll without deeply meditating on the issue

Wow...this explains things, we're discussing macro-level team value with teenagers who still resort to all-caps name calling.

We don't know what Schwartz is yet...do you? If so, I'm sure the Blues office would appreciate hearing from you.

He's a top 15 pic who shares many similarities with Parise...I don't want to trade that potential until I can gauge it. Do I think he'll be better than Landeskog? Probably not. Is it possible. Sure. The Calder is not a crystal ball into the future.

I'm just being realistic. You don't trade what you don't know...a la Kevin Shattenkirk.

You think if Amstrong got offered Landeskog for Schwartz straight up, he would say no???

Blues.

Adding the guy who played on Tavares' wing doesn't impress me. Outside of Stastny, Duchene, and Landeskog I don't see consistent top-6 forwards in that group and that's assuming Duchene can actually become consistent. To be honest, I don't think the Avs forward group is close to being top-5 either.

Avs top 6 is marginally better but Blues bottom six is clearly superior.

The correct answer is the Blues here but both teams have great depth up front. The grit the Blues possess is what pushes them ahead of the Avs group for me. Top end talent is a valid argument but the Avs' talent still has more to prove imo.

Tarasenko/Schwartz for Landeskog is ridiculous. That's an easy yes for the blues. ROY vs 2 players combining for a total of 7 NHL games played. C'mon homers!

Tarasenko has higher upside. Either way I'm not trading either of them right now.

Last year:
Blues forwards scored 175 goals
Avs forwards scored 183 goals

Very close, with ROR, and until Tarasenko proves himself in the NHL, I'd take Colorado, but I wouldn't at all be shocked if that changes by the end of this year.
