I don't think it's there for players. Maybe Regier/Ruff. But people are not expecting much of the Sabres, barely on the radar. Team excels in these situations. Something to think about.
Personally, I still expect a lot because they are high payroll. Not sure the league does. Certainly hockey pundits do not.

after reading through whatever "expert" picks i could find today, it seems the general consensus is that the sabres will make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed, but not make much noise.

after some of the national media hype buffalo received last year, i'd prefer they remain under the radar.
