Injuries happen, it's part of the game. Time for the Backes's, Schwartz's, eyc... to elevate their game to another level. We can only hope Steen & McDonald Injuries are not serious.

Strick is pretty darn reliable when it comes to the Blues.

What can you guys tell me about Murray? Never seen him play.

Sounds like he might have blown out his knee. Not good:

"In the case of McDonald he stayed down on the ice for several minutes where his screams echoed throughout the Blues practice facility."

Maybe we should retitle this thread "The McDonald Report"...he's the new Colaiacovo.

Maybe, just maybe, that is what happened... but it sounds like some creative license has been taken there. He needed helped off the ice, but apparently after sitting on the bench he was able to walk down towards the dressing room himself, albeit limping.

What has happened with Steen looks like complete guesswork. The suggestions have now been head, shoulder, wrist and hand.

Knee ligament injuries in hockey are pretty unusual....and there are plenty of painful ways to injure the knee that don't result in structural damage. Hopefully that's what happened to Andy and its something that will allow him to continue playing this season, maybe with a couple weeks out of action.

I am going with what I suspect is the obvious answer...Steen's arm was chopped off, came up and hit him in the helmet with enough force to concuss him.

Yeah, but I read Sobotka fell on him while his leg was under him. This is all speculation, of course, but I'm not optimistic.

I just read that McDonald was put in IR and Steen is "day-to-day". Not a good sign for Andy, but I'll still hope. Hopefully Steen just got knocked in the head and otherwise doing OK, and it just got blown out of proportion because of the timing with McDonald's. Anyway, the Chicago game is going to be a complete gut check for this team.

They are saying Steen is day to day with a shoulder issue, not head

Some positive news that Steen hasn't been ruled out of the game tomorrow.

Looks like McDonald might not be so bad...

Lou Korac ‏@lkorac10
Good news from Hitch, said he didn't feel like Steen or McDonald are longterm injuries. Tarasenko is an unknown to this point. #stlblues

4th-line banger. Good size at 6'2'' 218, very physical - hits a lot, decent skater and defensive game. Solid along the boards. Scored for Peoria but won't provide much offense at the NHL level. I think him and Porter are pretty similar, and they both know the system (Murray played for Hitch in Columbus). So I feel fine about it, they are hard-working guys that will hopefully give us some energy. They aren't flashy but they do their job well.

As long as Steen is back soon we should be fine. We can roll with these lines:

Perron-Backes-Oshie
Schwartz-Steen-Stewart
Sobotka-Berglund-D'Agostini
Porter-Nichol-Reaves
Murray

Not bad at all, just let McDonald and Tarasenko rest up for a bit and hopefully neither of them are out very long, maybe just a couple weeks.

Honestly I'm not that concerned about McDonald. He has talent but has been disappointing this season, and I wouldn't mind just letting him go in the summer due to his age, injuries, etc. Now is a good time for Schwartz to step up and see if he'll be a good replacement for McDonald. Also still a chance for D'Agostini to do well too.

Well now Cracknell has been recalled too...

I think the guys we have called up are solid depth players but that can't be good news on the injury front can it?

Well we still had an extra roster spot from when we sent Allen down. Maybe its just insurance.

Yeah you're right. Korac just said it's an extra body just in case for the upcoming road trip after Friday. Makes sense.

Don't know the extent of the injury just what I stated. Just so happens I have a good source this season.

I agree. Let Cracknell play. He has earned his stripes in Peoria. Murray is like having another Mike Eastwood from what I remember him at San Jose. Let's see what they have. Give Steen a day to heal.
