As for that playoff team in 2001-02, they just weren't good. They were a sham. They won a lot of close games, good on them, but the team wasn't nearly as strong as other playoff teams that year. ANY Hawks fan to man will tell you we were roadkill before Game 1 of the playoffs even began.

I love it when people accuse the Hawks of tanking to get Toews and Kane. Why anyone would ice a team like that on purpose for that long is beyond me.

05-06 Lines looked something like this

Calder - Arnason - Bell
Bourque - Sharp - Vrbata
Lapointe - Holmqvist - Barnaby
Brown - Doud - Vorobiev

Aucoin - Cullimore
Keith - Seabrook
Byfuglien - Wisniewski

Khabibulin
Anderson

But there were so many injuries and callups that year that none of those lines stuck except for the top one and Arnason was gone by the end of the season. Ruutu was out most of the year, Daze was out all year.

The reality is the organizaiton did everything they could to **** up our chances at ever getting a No. 1 or even No. 2 pick while at the same time making sure we were bad enough to definitely miss the playoffs each year. We fell ass backwards into Toews and especially Kane. We also shot ourselves in face with the OV/Malkin draft.

I think if you look up the definition of ******** the bed, Adrian Aucoin's face shows up.

Always liked Vrbata.

It was nice having Bondra for the last year of his career. Got to see his 500th goal live, which was a treat.

Yup, the Hawks sucked for so long purely because of incompetence.

I think Daze played 2 periods of hockey in the first game that year and then his career was over. My God did I hate Arnason, what a POS that guy was.

For sure, one of the most exciting prospects to come through this system in a very long time, loved watching him play.

Yup, the first period had a nice bar fight feel to it. Very satisfying. Unless you were Peca's knee.

Awesome! I always thought the guy was pretty under rated and didn't get the love even when he was winning goal scoring titles. I dont' think they had the richard trophy back when he did it twice. If he could have stayed healthy a full season for a few seasons he could easily have won a few more and probably pushed for 600 career goals. He just couldn't string 82 games together.
