Glad you said something.

I was going to offer a shovel and some lime so he'd have some job security going forward.

If it tingles my no no spot the same way that Hamilton to Krejci goal did last night, then maybe I need to look into getting a second job.

What ever you do, avoid Toyota. My wife's is falling apart. Dash board lit up like a Xmass tree every week. Big mistake.

And oddly enough a close friend of mine will only buy Toyota because of car problems he has had over the years.

haha not really.

The old job was at a small company on the south shore so just finding that job was weird. The new job is at State Street Bank which has thouands of employees and I get the job he moves out of.

So he took my seat at the old job and I took his seat at the new job. Just weird man weird.

I bought a 2003 Toyota Echo and the thing is still going strong (KNOCK WOOD HEAVILY) with over 160k miles on it. All depends on the car you get and dumb luck.

It was the year actually. They had a slew of recalls. I don't know what toyota did, decided to stop spending $$$ on quality control, and followed the GM model. But, nothing but problems w/ this vehicle. Never again.

Really? My mom has had 3 Toyotas in a row. Bought her last Camry in 08, after her 1996 Camry had 326,000 miles on it. True story.

I'm also considering Mazda, Kia, and Hyundai, which are relatively new to me. I grew up with Toyota (mom) and Ford (dad). My current car is a Honda. Trying to keep an open mind which is rare for me...I'm usually very brand loyal, but this is really my first journey into buying a new car.

You said you were reading consumer reports, so it sounds like you're going a/b it the right way. I had hondas and nissans that went forever, too. I should clarify. My wife wanted an all wheel drive minivan. I had other ideas. Less than 10k miles run flat tires set all kinds of warning lights off no matter how many times they were replaced. It got so bad I put regular tires on the thing. Brake recall that was apparently killing people, as well as throttles getting stuck. Awesome when you have 3 kids in the car. Perhaps it was specific to her vehicle, but it's been one thing after the next. Last one for us.

My last two cars were Mazdas. Fun to drive with some giddyup, and they handled pretty well. They're pretty light so it was a challenge in the snow driving them if the tires weren't great.

We have a Toyota Sienna now and it's nice. First experience with Toyota, and so far it's been pretty positive. I drive my wife's old car now (a Mercury Milan) and it's got all wheel drive, which is nice. First time with that, even if the car isn't all that fun to drive.

Run flats are the worst. We specifically made sure the van we bought did not have them. Nothing worse than having to buy tires, unless you find out you need to buy rims on top of that too...

In terms of the throttle crap with Toyota, I thought they ultimately claimed it was an issue with the floor mats not being secure or too thick and getting stuck. Not that I believe that, but wasn't that what they basically concluded as the cause?

The Siennas are nice vans. My wife's last car was a Sienna. She drove it over 150k miles until she snoozed at the wheel and played tag with a telephone pole. No one was hurt but the score was telephone pole 1, car totalled. We shared a car for almost a year and almost cost ourselves our marriage , so we decided it was time to get the Wifey a car.

I have had toyota's and nissan's for my last 4 cars and love them. The nissan is just a souped up toyota so if you want to spend a little extra for the cool perks. My altima has heated leather seats, bose stero, blue tooth...all kinds of goodies. It is my second Nissan altima SL. When my toyota dies I think I might get another nissan instead of another toyota.
