Russo did an article on Jim Mill, Houston Aeros GM and Mill had a few remarks about some prospects:
Quote:
2011 first-round pick Zack Phillips: “He’s learning at the pro level you can’t slow the game down like he did in junior and not move his feet. He’s so skilled and has great vision, but the pace of play really needed to pick up for Philly.”
Quote:
2010 second-round pick Brett Bulmer, who played a nine-game snapshot for the Wild last season: “He’s just got to get his game together. Lots of injuries. It’s going to be a process for him. He’s experiencing his first full pro year, and the ups and downs with that. He’s going to have to figure it out.”
Quote:
2008 second-round pick Marco Scandella: “Talk about a guy who’s had injuries and ups and downs. He’s finally healthy again. Last Sunday, he played the best, most consistent game he’s played in a long, long time. He was solid defensively, moving the puck well, playing big and strong and finally solidifying his game to where he should be. So he needs to go on a run of that. Once he does that, he’ll be here.”
He also talks about Kyle Medvec and Justin Fontaine, as well as the crazy goaltenders musical-chairs they've been playing down there this season

Will Fontaine ever get his shot in the NHL? The guy has been great since day 1 in the AHL.

Yup, Zack has been playing great for the Aeros lately.

People just need to be patient with him.

Excellent news! Not sure why people aren't patient..foolish considering he is a long term prospect anyways..he won't be with the Wild for 2-3 years.

Phillips is the only other talented center in this org outside of granlund, and a righty too.

Has he been playing center?? I was under the impression he was playing wing.

preety sure when granny, and larsson were in hou, they played center which forced phillips to wing, but since lars was traded, that opened a center spot for philly in the top6, another reason i think fletch made the trade.

whats the chances the wild give B. Connolly a shot with the Wild? He seems to be the best d-man in Houston, so why not give him a chance to play in the future

Because Connelly is an AHL all-star defenseman.

Sure, it would be interesting to see what he can do in the NHL but I doubt it will happen. The hockey level is different as well.

No. Just no. Mara>Scandella>Kampfer>Connelly

He has been extremely unremarkable this year. Yea, he puts up points, but his defense is beyond pathetic. Dude struggled mightily during the lockout with the increase in competition level.

The guy that scored two huge goals last night and that we paid a kings ransom to get, as an fyi, spent 4 years learning his trade in the AHL and look at him now. JP DRAFTED out of the QMJHL.
Patience espically with skilled guys, is key as Ive been saying all year.

Yeah Phillips is a project and I think this organization has faith in his abilities to develop as well. He started out on the 4th line, he's been working has ass off and he's probably going to spend 2 more years in AHL before he gets a call up. No need to rush him at all.

Happy that Dumba is going to the AHL for a bit, it'll be interesting to see how he does.

No mention of Haula getting 2 assists in his first 3 games? Color me surprised. Kid is going to be a steal.

It's in my hot prospects list. Excellent start for the kid. Really hope he turns out to be our long-term answer at third line center.

No. I know, I saw that. I meant no discussion. Error on my part.

He wasn't known in Finland because he didn't go the SM-liiga route, therefore, there's no reports on him in Finnish media, which, I think, has helped him a lot. It has made him focus more on just playing hockey, instead of having to live up to ridiculous expectations from the media. He's a good skater, accurate shot and gives it everything, really determined. His ceiling is enormous, he just have to tweak some parts of his game and bulk up. Definitely a steal for the Wild.

There's reports of him in Finnish media actually. He is hyped more than a normal 7th rounder. I think the fact he didn't choose SM-liiga makes him get more attention from Finnish media. There has been no stopping for mentioning Määttä every week in tabloids and he plays across the pond, too.
