But who knows, maybe my overall hatred for the Gophers is just biasing my view of him.
Haula's one of those players that does everything well on both sides of the ice. Very fierce competitor and gives 100% on every shift (kind of like a player or two on our first line)....I see his ceiling as a 2C, but the floor is no lower than a 3C.

And for those speculating that Haula may not sign with the Wild....why wouldn't he? He's Finnish and is BFFs with Granlund! He may even be on Uncle Mikko's xmas card list!!!

If we signed Medvec and Lorenz to pro contracts, then I can't see why we wouldn't sign Haula. At the very least, I see him having a career similar to Fontaine or Genoway where he's an AHL staple with the opportunity to play his way to the Wild roster.

Lorenz was signed to an AHL deal.

And I believe Fletcher has intimated that Haula will turn pro after this year, so I think we'll see him in Houston before year's end.

Please excuse my ignorance on the matter, since I don't follow all of the prospects that closely, but what is the status with Tyler Cuma? I was happy to see that he played the majority of last season and hope that he remains healthy and can (eventually) reach his upside. But he seems to have missed some time recently. What is the story with that -- is he currently injured? -- and what do you think the team's longer-term outlook is with this player?

Thanks!

He's injured again, foot I think? He's been injured so often he's completely ruined his development. Seems like a second pairing AHL'er maybe? If that? Not an NHL calibre prospect.

Yeah, no kidding. Hopefully it's just a slump, because he looked really promising in his 9-game stint last year.

And Cody Almond is looking really good in the NLA. Sure, the Swiss league is not quite in the AHL lever but to be honest, it's right there with FEL and Elitserien in terms of quality, and he's doing really well stats-wise.

Bulmer has gotten off his game, trying to be something he's not. He see's all these highly rated kids who are esteemed for certain attributes and he wants to turn himself into that instead of focusing on what got him here. He was never meant to be a scoring forward with offensive flair, but he's somehow put that expectation on himself and it's eating him.

i know this.

Mattias Weinhandl dominated in Europe, too. Some players just sync into certain roles. AHL all-stars, some are perfect for their Euro league, or the KHL, or whatever, and it doesn't translate elsewhere.

Now that there's no use in hyping Darcy Kuemper anymore, I might have to move on to the new most underrated prospects in our system: Mario Lucia and Adam Gilmour.

It's so weird to think about all the longer-term prospects we have out there that aren't in the AHL and never get mentioned.
I think Seeler and Draeger are sleeper prospects.

Definitely Gilmour. Was rooting for him before he was drafted, was jumping out of my chair when the Wild drafted, and still excited to see him!

He seems to really be figuring out the USHL right now and he couldn't be going to a better place to develop next year. I can't wait to see what type of player he'll be in about 5 years.

Looks like Dumba has picked it up points wise after his tough start to the season. How has he looked recently?

It's kind of weird that there are so many prospects that are just ignored, like what was said above. Pretty much the entire 2012 draft outside of Dumba. Draeger, Gilmour, Bertschy, Nanne, and Gunnarsson are practically never mentioned. Draeger is still me dark horse for a potential second-pairing guy down the road moreso than any of our other D prospects. Gilmour looks like he could be in the mix for a top-9 spot eventually, and could definitely add some size to an otherwise relatively small-sized prospect pool.

Bertschy and Nanne are both long-term unlikely picks, but if they work out...wow.

Gunnarsson is probably the #2 most talked about guy after Dumba, and probably only because he's on the same team as Gustavsson. He could possibly be an NHL defender within the next few years. It seems, at least to me, that the 2012 draft is looked down on for being the worst of the Flahr/Fletcher era. I still think Trouba should have been the pick over Dumba, but even with Matt it looks like it could potentially add a variety of prospects and positions that were not really covered in past drafts.

Speaking of, how does everybody rank the past few drafts? Objectively considering potential and all that. Otherwise it would go 2010>2011>2012 based on NHL play. I know that is what truly matters, but think at it another way.

Personally, mine would go:
2011
2012
2010

2011
2012
2010
2010 - Granlund, Zucker, Larsson, Gustafsson. Bulmer is still working.
2011 - Brodin, Lucia. The rest still have work to do.
2012 - Dumba, Gilmour. The rest still have work to do.

I have seen him a bit recently (tv and in person). He looks solid and stands out on the ice. I really think this was just a whirl wind of a year for the kid and the consistency he has had lately is just the result of things having settled down for him now.

What is the story with that -- is he currently injured? -- and what do you think the team's longer-term outlook is with this player?

Thanks!
Honestly I think Cuma goes unqualified this offseason. He's pretty far down the depth chart at this point.

Just overhyped last year because the other prospects weren't in situations to get 9-game looks.

Its a shame he wasn't in proper shape at the start of last season because of his back problems, really thought he'd stick with Yeo as the coach. Can't blame him for taking the $$ and opportunity to explore the world though, nothing was guaranteed here.

He wasn't hyped just because he got a 9 game look, he was hyped because he looked good during it. He looked very deserving of his 9 games and wasn't out of place one bit.

Nothing underrated about Lucia IMO. The kid is soon to be amongst the top of the Wild's prospect class now that a some are close to graduating from prospect status.
