Chicago's going to lose. It's just the way Chicago always starts the year, regardless of how good or 'bad' they are, seemingly.
Chicago hasn't won a season-opening game since 2006-07, an 8-6 win over Nashville.

I think that teams with the banner raising have a hard time preparing mentally for the game. Add in Kopitar being out, and I think the Hawks eke out a 3-2 victory.

I'll go 5-4 Kings. Crawford lets in 3 softies and half of us are screaming for Stan Bowman to get fired for not replacing Crow over the summer.

The Hawks decide to serve the Kings the same nasty medicine they ate right after their own banner-raising ceremony.
3-2 Hawks

I remember getting the major networks in my visits to Cancun. I just can't remember if they were the Miami or Houston broadcasts so you might get NBC but not the Hawks game.

I think we'll have a good showing overall but a few defensive breakdowns and a momentum killing goal let in by Crawford will send us to Phoenix with an 0-1 record.

I was kidding (sort of
) I'm not expecting to be around much to watch hockey. Leave tomorrow and come back the following Saturday. Looking forward to getting off the grid a bit actually. I'll keep an eye out and at least check scores. Not sure how much I'll get on here. I know I'll be missed!

The lines look like they're going to be what they were in training camp, at least opening night:
Carcillo - Toews - Hossa
Sharp - Bolland - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Stalberg
Mayers - Kruger - Frolik
Keith - Seabrook
Hjalmarsson - Oduya
Leddy - Brookbank
Crawford
Emery

Dan Rosen@drosennhl
Toews is here. Not skating. Rest of the Blackhawks still are. Quenneville will have to update after skate.
